Cardiff City: Boss Warnock wants money for promotion push

12th May 2019

Neil Warnock says he must be given money to spend on new players if he is to stay as Cardiff City manager.

After the Bluebirds were relegated from the Premier League last Saturday, Warnock said he had "no idea" where he would be next season.

He has a year left on his contract and owner Vincent Tan has said he wants the 70-year-old to stay.

"I think it's vital that we can look to get two or three signings as quickly as possible really," said Warnock.

“Cardiff will have to invest next season.”

"I'm seeing Mehmet [Dalman, Cardiff chairman] and Ken [Choo, chief executive] on Monday. We're having a full day together, discussing all aspects of the club.”

"I'm aware of what Vincent's said but I've been so busy, I've had so many things to do, I haven't really had the time.”

"I think we've arrived as a football club this year. We're a big club now and we've got to think big now."

If Tan has an ounce of ambition he'll give Warnock what he needs.
He's already shown what he can do on a budget.

And he should. We currently have 1 CM. We need at least 2 there let alone other positions. Of course it's going to cost. And more if we want anything decent.

People say we have to give him money
People say Tan should put his hand in his pocket

Warnock has spent close to £100mill since hes been here and we dont have a squad to compete in the championship at the moment (I understand what happened with Sala was not his fault ).
Our squad should be pretty much complete for that level with the money he has spent but it is nowhere near.
That worries me.

Does he really deserve more ?

By the way I think the guy is brilliant and want him to stay

Close to 100m and not a squad to compete? Are you joking?

Same squad (probably slightly weaker) came second last year.
100m? Show your workings out.

10m Bobby Reid. Will make a huge impact next year.
10m Josh Murphy. As above.
3m Cunningham. Holds his own in champ.
3m smithies. As above.
6m Madine. Can do a job with Reid and proven by another promotion.

3m Tomlin. He can go.

So wasted 3m?! Hardly 100!

Tomlin - £2.5mill
Ward - £1mill
Bogle - £1mill
Madine - £6mill
Patterson - £500k
Murphy - £12mill
Reid - £11mill
Sala - £18mill
Cunningham - £4mill
Smithies - £4mill
Bacuna - £4mill - £65mill app

Add in loan fees ( Loan players do not come cheap at this level) and high wages for:

Arter - 40k a week - £2.5 mill P/A
Camarasa - 30k a week £2 mill P/A
Grujic - 30k a week £2 mill P/A
Niasse - 35k a week £2 mill P/A
Wildschut - 25k a week £1.8 mill P/A

That takes us up to around the £80 mill mark .

Take into account we have to pay Agents fees on top we will have spent close to the £100mill mark on transfers and fees during his time here. The fact we are going into a new season with only 2 midfielders and one decent striker is a worry.

God that's a desperate attempt... realistically we have spent about 50 million. We need 2 midfielders to rotate with ralls and Bacuna. I would like a striker though tbh I feel like Zohore deserves another season.

Can’t believe that clown Thomasblue has added Sala to NWs expenditure  How can you judge warnocks performance on a player who hasn’t played a game, wake up u clown.

Have we sold any players? Surely money has be been made in sales to which brings that overall total down even further.

Re: NEIL WARNOCK SAYS HE MUST BE GIVEN MONEY

Warnock is in a great bargaining position so is right to ask for money.

I can't see us losing too many players. Obviously all of Camarasa, Arter and Niasse won't come back. The only other player I think that would attract genuine interest is Etheridge - we need to keep hold of him.

I think three or four decent signings would put us in a very strong position.

I actually think Tan will offer Warnock a decent amount of money, and I hope that's enough to keep him with us.

Well obviously loans dont cost any money and dont count towards budgets in your world so we may aswell just loan everybody and ignore wages because they dont cost real money.

Arter alone this season would have cost around 3/4 million to have for the season

Those things have to be taken into account to get to true figures, people can laugh all they like but it is the truth.

The true fact is that Warnock has been given more money than any Cardiff manager ever in the last 2 years and we are left with a threadbare midfield and strikeforce.

Christ alive Thomas that’s one if the most ridiculous posts I’ve ever seen in 20 years....are you pissed?
100 million? The only money I’d say he wasted is on madine and it looks like we’ll get that back anyway. Tomlin was a big fat let down too, but he has talent he just can’t be arsed. I’d say 10 at a push....our front line and defence will serve us very well next year. So many bargains in there thanks Neil.... :occasion5: :bluescarf:

I never said he wasted It I said it's what he has spent.
Nobody has proven otherwise , he has had a lot of money to spend and our squad especially midfield should be better.
I actually like Warnock and want him to stay but he has spent a lot of money already.

Those figures are not right he’s taken some wild guesses.

Even IF they were true you would still have to add Thomas maths to all the other clubs in the division Fulham must of spent about 3 trillion in his world.

By the way you don’t add agents fee onto transfer deals the agents fee comes out of the transfer money or the signing on fee or what ever.

Re: NEIL WARNOCK SAYS HE MUST BE GIVEN MONEY

Sun May 12, 2019 10:30 pm

Thomasblue, yeah you may be correct that he has spent a lot of money, but the return he has had in his time here is also greater than any other manager has ever had, on getting us promoted he has had more return on shirt sales than any other manager, plus a higher average attendance in the new stadium, and the highest ever money received in a season for tv rights.

There is always two sides, so even if your somewhat questionable maths are close you have to admit that he has also delivered on money coming in, not to mention how much his galvanising of the fans, team and board has done good for the club going forward.

Well f@cking said Sir, he is off his head, remember a certain club, that finished below us by 8 points, spent that, this season alone, and are likely going to lose some of their stars,so will need to rebuild too.as will most clubs in the championship, we dust ourselves down and go again :ayatollah: just think of our relagation, will hopefully turn into another promotion push, being competitive, and lots of night games :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Thomas the sala situation is being dealt with by the lawyers at the moment because the club have refused to pay a penny as they believe he was not registered with the club as a player when the crash happened. Therefore the 18 million needs to come out of your calculations

That's fine but I dont like being accused of being disrespectful of a situation like that.

Even taking that awful event out of the post he has still spent around d £80mill in reality, you cant just ignore certain fees because they are not permanent transfers, they still count towards budgets.
Warnock has had more money to spend than any other manager in our history and our midfield is threadbare which was the whole point of the post, not a arguement over Sala.

Realistically we will need money but some of Warnock best signings have either come in on a free or bought on the cheap.

Paterson
