I ways remember them as Red Star Belgrade which is famous around the world. Not sure why they use the other name they are not as recognisable

Nearly every football fan around the world has heard of Red star Belgrade. They are a hugely famous club.
It's like everybody calling us Cardiff City and then all of a sudden using Dinas Caerdydd as a permanent name.

I bet if you asked 100 football fans to name a Serbian football team most would say red star belgrade and probably none would say crvena zvezda

It means Red Star in Serbian FFS it what they have always been called their you can still call them Red Star if you want

Same way we call it Bayern Munich instead of Bayern München or Rapid Vienna instead of Rapid Wien
