Only an observation Jock but one I will admit to enjoying as he will the first PM to be humiliated like this and good enough for the lying buffoon too.He can't get anything right, only today he was interviewed in some scottish field full of bullshit which won't be lost on some. I've somewhat relented in my opinion as a remainer and would support a deal but never a no-deal
a amongst other things would threaten the Good friday agreement.Anecdotally,I know alot that voted for Brexit the first time share this view.

All Boris has to do is to ask the EU for an extension and then immediately veto it, as ALL MEMBER STATES GET TO VOTE. Corbyn and Swinson will then have to take up the offer of an election, where they will lose due to the Boris Farage pact. Rich remainers will be scared of letting in Corbyn and will vote Tory or Lib Dem, while the working class brexiteers who would normally vote Labour will vote for the Brexit Party. Even Labour front benchers don't understand Labour's Brexit stance, so what chance have they got in convincing the electorate.

How do you know that? Have you read the entire bill? If you're right, then I think he will instruct the Queen not to sign and the bill doesn't become law. Then they will have to except his challenge of an election.IMHO the electorate will severely punish these MP's who have tried to derail democracy. The vote may have been close on a simple yes or no, but on a constituency basis around two thirds of the seats would have been Brexiteers.

I watched the lords today debating it and even the remainers in there said that they are passing it coz of the time scale but there are serious legal flaws in it and they referenced a cctv bill that was rushed through and was legally challenged in courts and had to be sent back i really can see whilst the parliment is not sitting a challenge to this will happen

Think people need to read up on what can happen there are several end products and it's not foregone conclusion that boris will have to go to EU? And if he did there is still several permutations that can happen? Like said need to look at what may or may not happen..

A laughing stock looking out for no one but himself and his weird, bumbling, self-perceived ego

Sort of puts him on a par with another failed (long-time suspended) play-time politician and foe of this Forum, former Merthyr Councillor Adam Brown ;)

He does have the authority!
All member states must vote to agree to an extension.
It only takes one member to not allow an extension and it will not be granted.
So, its possible to ask for an extension and then we veto it by not agreeing to it.
Perfectly legal.
Or, no commisioner is sent to the EU on behalf of the UK.
By doing that we break the Lisbon treaty, so get kicked out that way.
Plenty of twists and turns yet!

The SNP are forcing us to stay in the EU yet the first chance they get they will call for a independence reference that if successful will mean they are no longer part of the EU !
So we will have to have a hard border as well as the EU are imposing on Ireland

If you look at the referendum result they (scots) voted to stay in.You could just as easily say we as forcing them to come out.

Potatoes to them!
Give them independence then give them 1yr before financial ties are cut with Westminster and let the EU prop them up like the other countries they are doing now!
It as been said they cannot be full members as financially they dont make the grade so be a insignificant name with no influence in Brussels

Scots vote for independence,Scots build border, nothing to do with UK.
Sneggy usually like your posts but to mock someone who is actually at long last carrying out the will of a majority who voted is plain decking stupid. :old:

Boris may not have to wriggle out of anything queen or not ? At moment theres two ways boris won't have go to EU and after that several ways where we could still leave on oct 31st, deal or not but time will tell him how stubborn boris is and how far he will go to get us out of EU .

The ultimate way they could stop Boris is a temporary coalition. With a parliamentary majority whoever led it would be constitutionally entitled to ask the queen to form a new gov.Easier said than done i'll admit.

They've tried that and as you saw no one trusts Corbyn? but boris as to resign 1st or a vote of no confidence but that is unlikely given what MPs are doing at moment ... boris us still saying wont ask EU so be interesting see what he as up his sleeve if this is case.. just a thought if boris refuses to and and it goes to court will it be done and sorted before 31st Oct? Because surely another con mp would become PM? Or would need election all adds to drama?

Further even Scotland are not members of the EU and if they gain independence will not become automatic members. They will have to apply for membership which will have to be accepted by all 28 member states and who do think will be the main objectors To this ? As I far as I understand no sitting government can make legislation that its successor would be bound to.

So to my mind this is all just a bunch of parlour games.

There will have to be a GE at some point and if Boris gets in it will likely be via a pact with Farage which if successful, will leave him a comfortable majority to overturn this legislation.

However, the price for doing a deal with Farage will almost certainly be a Hard Brexit.

If he/they dont win, and a remain coalition gets in then Corbyn et al, will equally have the power to revoke artical 50 entirely.

Its finally edging towards a zero sum game that it was always probably going to be.

All this bill has done is remove a lot of power away from Boris in what was a tight negotiating scenario anyway. It is a lose-lose motion that has forced us into taking one final path that leads to a very divisive binary choice.

The remoaner MP's have destroyed any chance of a deal now and the people will have to decide and I suspect that they (the MPs) might not like that outcome at all.

Still you reap what you sow, and them chickens are now coming home to roost.

It'll be over soon enough one way or another...

Seriously though, either Boris is playing a blinder and the best is yet to come (Savid Javid hinted at it on The Andrew Marr Show) or he has truly misjudged his available powers as the fledgling PM

The country is now in a mess regardless of which side we fall on as individuals and the politicians are failing to do their duty in large parts

Boris to blame? Not quite yet, as that dishonour goes to the Remoaners who could not accept the democratic decision; but he is at the point where he needs to show why so many people appeared to have faith in his (flimsy IMHO) leadership credentials

Saddest of all though, I'd still rather him in power than the the Doomsday trio of Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonald and Diane Abbott. The mind boggles as to what would follow... :(

Agree with every bit of that particularly the last bit. I think I'm more frightened of a Corbyn Government than being cheated out of Brexit.

Spain's problem is the same as EU once one does it others will follow and Catalonia are very pro independence Scotland gaining it would really push Catalonia towards independence.. so easy to see why EU dont want anyone jumping ship?

What about the majority of people who voted leave?

They were lied to. Told a deal would be easy. No mention of a no deal therefore vote was null and void. Start again now that everyone knows all the facts.....you know it makes sense

No mention of deal no mention of no deal? Both parties either lied or were very economical with truth in referendum so cal it a draw and let result stand? But will say the remain bunch are hypocrites this bill to force boris to delay Brexit was done unconstitutionaly in an underhand way thanks to that Moron burcow who allowed again something that shouldn't have been just to derail Brexit .....

Bercow
By allowing the use of Standing Order Number 24 - a procedure normally used to trigger emergency debates - to take over the Parliamentary timetable, Mr Bercow had not "just bent the rules, he has broken them", she said. The move meant opposition and rebel MPs could pass a law blocking a no-deal Brexit, which the prime minister said undermined his Brexit strategy. Ms Leadsom said allowing the opposition to control the agenda in this way "ignores the government's right to govern" and undermines democracy, prompting Mr Johnson's call for a general election.
