Playoffs

Postby Pencoed » Mon Jan 13, 2020 2:20 pm

If Sheffield Wednesday currently 6th continue to pick up points at the rate they're they will have 72 come the end of the season. We would need to average 1.6 over are remaining 19 games to reach 72 points. We have 5 games left against the top 8, 4 are at home.

We've the most draws in the league if we can turn a couple into wins who knows.

From what I've seen this season I think 1 or 2 average sides could end up making the playoffs. If we can be a bit tighter a little bit more clinical could be us.

we are 13th... not 7th. Those maths could apply to many teams above us. The fact is we are too far from the playoffs and would need a run of probably 5 good results to even climb into them.

Brentford in 3rd place down to us in 12th that's 10 teams separated by only 8 points.

Whilst not Impossible with a few quality signings I feel City ain't nowhere near good enough or consistent this season. Saying that I feel it is a poor quality championship this season with the top 3 the stand out sides by a distance.

I have never thought us as likely play off contenders this season. We are well over half way through the season, and to date 11 teams have been consistently better than us in picking up points. We may improve, but I doubt if enough sides above us will have a drop in form sufficient for us to catch them. I still think a top ten finish is a realistic target. I just hope Bristol don't get to the play offs.

WBA and Leeds going thru real poor spell. Only Brentford doing the business at the moment. Up for grabs any side stringing together a decent run...

Impossible to predict results in this division...but imagine we beat the teams currently below us during the run in...Birmingham, Luton, Huddersfield, Wigan, Stoke, Barnsley, Charlton, Blackburn, Derby and Middlesbro. Then WBA, Leeds, Forest at CCS. Brentford, Hull and Fulham away. Let's see that's 10 teams below us = 30 pts. Draws v WBA and Leeds beat Forest = 5 pts. Beat Hull and lose to Brentford and Fulham = 3 pts. Final season tally = 76. Deffo playoffs. Just off to Ladbrokes

:banghead: We will know by end of January about the play offs....no new players and we ain’t gonna make it but a couple of good signings and you never know...
Worst championship in terms of quality I can remember for a long time.
So hope Harris spends wisely ....otherwise its back to the FA cup :banghead: :occasion5:

Firstly it's you are not your, secondly, of course we were good enough because the fact is, City went up. Even an inbred like you can understand that surely.

Wednesday will be deducted a record No of points before the season end so wouldn’t worry about them.

We probably need 36 points, (38+36=74)

So with 19 games to go we need

9 wins= 27
5 draws = 5
5 loses = 32

30 wins = 30
4 draws = 4
5 loses = 34

Its tough, we have 10 home games, IMO we can only lose a maximum 5 games....So starting at Brum it must be a win :ayatollah:

Think 1st one is slightly different to the one being investigated now! But efl not happy at all and 8/12point deduction is a strong possibility

One poster has said something along the lines of turn draws into wins and we could do it. I agree, but we are just as likely to turn those draws into defeats the way we are currently playing
