He needs a goal. He is playing with zero confidence at the moment. Doesn't help the fans are on his case all the time. Passes the ball backwards and gets stick, try's to take his man on and loses possession and he gets stick. Seems he can't win. What doesn't help his case is him pulling out of every challenge. He was like a boy playing with men on Saturday. So frustrating to watch and, personally, that is the reason why I think people have given up on him. Poor performances can be forgiven as long as the fans see the player getting stuck in.

It’s not his fault that our former Manager decided that he was worth 11m then like Reid and others decided he wasn’t a Warnockball player. He would be class in a footballing team which I was hoping we were going to become under Harris?

Thought he was very good today. A real threat. Also covered very well in defence. Looked well up for it. Pleased for him :bluescarf:

well he was in the 11 that started the most last season... not that reality trumps what goes on in your head....

Credit where it's due,he was good again tonight,I had a pop the other week,as he just looked like he wanted to be anywhere, but on the pitch? I did joke after the reading game, that perhaps he reads the board! Keep it up josh, nows the time to hit a run of hot form :ayatollah: :old: :bluebird:

he is a good player, just has had a dip in confidence/form whatever...
if he can hit a purple patch and everyone stay fit could make a massive difference on the run in..

It really, really could.

And I need to admit I was so wrong about Tomlin, never saw this at all.

Two midweeks in a row where he has really stood out, great to see him rediscover his form and at a crucial time of the season.

That goal would have done him the world of good. Still got a bit of time on his side at 24.. hopefully keeps up this form now

Would love to see him continue in the team as his confidence should improve. It's pointless signing any more wide players in the summer unless they are better than we already have. I'm sure we haven't seen the best of Josh Murphy yet.

Maybe he’s thought he ain’t going anywhere soon and has decided to knuckle down. Goal celebration for his own and Vaulks certainly didn’t look like he didn’t care.

He took his goal like a forward, because that is what he is. He isn't a midfielder. I know he is not a centre forward, but it reminds me of when we used to play Ross McCormick out wide when it clearly wasn't his best position because he didn't fit the system.

Josh is a wide forward, let him hang around the half way line, it will keep two further back to mark him giving our midfield a bit more space.

This lad is a difference maker with Tomlin, just let him play.

so this year most of the championship teams i noticed are playing a high line defence, i don't think glatzel is upto the task, thereofore i'd give murphy a go at number 9, have tomlin play through balls and balls into space, and let josh run onto it, and go past the defence.

Sounds easy but imho JM would hardly get a kick up against 2 centre backs mate. Leave him on wing with a licence to come inside to the striker role. Paterson doing well at number 9.

I see he is taking over the "groups" hard man tag now Pelts has gone. That was a nasty with intent challenge yesterday that led to his yellow card. I was so proud.........He is turning into a Kairdiff boy

he's one of the best in the championship on his day that's why he was once known as Englands next best thing!
Confident needed and a kick up the arse and he will be on 15 goals a season
