A pleasure to watch him grace the pitch he was a natural footballer just made the game look so easy .
Never had a big head was a genuine nice person .
I'm really gutted as our many city supporters.
Only a small few fit the word legend and peter defo a club legend.RIP bluebird never forgotten

R.I.P. Peter Whittingham.
The most technically gifted player to play for Cardiff City.
Hope we can get a "GIANT"flag made up for him and we can show it off at every game.Peter Whittingham-you were Mr Cardiff City. :bluebird:

Absolutely gutted to hear of Whitts passing. In over 40 years of watching Cardiff City, he is without doubt my most favourite player of all time, the man just oozed class and as the chant says ‘He does what he wants.’ Retiring the number 7 jersey would be a great way for the club to honour him.
RIP Whitts and deepest condolences to his family and friends.

So sad. My favourite Cardiff City player of all time and a real humble man off from what I've heard. The most technically gifted player I've seen here and incredibly loyal to us. I personally think a statue should be made for him as he's a legend of the football club and I'd even consider retiring the number 7 shirt in his honour. RIP Whitts.

Absolutely devastating news, in the first instance for his family and close friends but also for those of us, who were lucky enough to see him play. He was my favourite player and when I met him at the stadium, he was so humble and polite. I recently met him in the pub, where he fell, and he was really good fun and those of us who sat with him, thoroughly enjoyed his company. I totally agree, that the number 7, should be retired in his honour. Peter, I was so glad to see you play so many times but even more glad to have met you, and you are and always will be, a true legend.

When you see how Peter Whittingham handled himself on and off the pitch, he was a credit to himself , CCFC and his profession.
He has given city so much over the years but nothing matches the memories of his cultured passing and some fabulous goals.
Thank you for being a Bluebird and RIP ....condolences to all who mattered to him.

One of things I remember about him was his penalty taking. For years I was convinced that we wouldn't score from penalties and I was mainly proved right. That was until Mr. Whittingham started taking them.

I just knew he would always score and he did. :notworthy:

Special special player.

Had numerous debates on this board up until he left City that he was still cutting it even when he was getting older.

I am lost for words, this has hit me in a much stronger way than I expected, thoughts go out to his family and people close to him.

The goals, the passing, the set pieces.. the guy was on a different level and kept signing a contract despite the interest higher up.. if you have conversations with any of your good mates who are city fans and talk about the best goals you've seen at City you probably hear his name more than anyone, scoring goals like you never seen before and he was just humble in his ability.

R.I.P Whitts, will never forget everything you done at and for this club. :bluebird:
I will.
And before anyone els gets in there no im not an ideot abroad

Was never given the send off he deserved and never given a testimonial that he deserved too.
It has to be a must that CARDIFF City organise a game to celebrate Peters life and his footballing career with all profits going to his family :bluescarf: :occasion5: :bluescarf:

WITH GRATEFUL THANKS TO A TRUE CITY LEGEND

Peter, such sad and tragic news and my sincerest condolences to all your family and friends.

I have supported Cardiff City for over 50 years and you are most definitely in my top ten favourite players of all time.

Your ability to see and execute a pass (some truly sublime) and free kicks are to me the hallmarks of your game. Notwithstanding your undoubted ability, it was the quiet, almost humble way, that you carried yourself on the field and your loyalty to the club (458 games) that makes you a legend in my eyes.

The way that your Cardiff career ended was truly sad. It should have ended with a standing ovation and grateful thanks for your truly magnificent contribution and in a way that enabled us fans to show to you how much your contribution and loyalty was appreciated.

I often read the newspaper boards in the Ninian Stand recounting major milestone's in the club's history. It would be fitting if a new one could be added in your remembrance and honour before next season as you will always be a legend woven into the rich tapestry of this Club.

THANK YOU and R.I.P

As a Brighton & Hove Albion fan, I share your grief. Peter was the lower leagues answer to Matt Le Tissier. A supremely gifted player, who somehow never got the opportunity to display his talents for a fashionable club. He was blessed with god given technique, something that can never be learned. I've viewed some of his goals on you tube, and can't find the words to describe his natural ability. This is a truly sad day for football. My kindest thoughts are with his family and with all Cardiff city supporters.

Watched Peter as a young player at Villa and he had a wand of a left foot and very surprised we let him go. Delighted he had a great career at a great club like Cardiff City.
I remember being at an end of season do at Villa Park when he was awarded Young Player of the Year and he when he got the award the spotlight was on him and he walked past our table. He looked about 13 and a rabbit in the headlights but what a player he turned out to be.
We have seen Ugo Ehiogu J Lloyd Samuel Dalian Atkinson all go way too soon and alongside Emiliano and now Peter. God bless the all so plenty of Villa fans sharing your grief. Condolences to Peter’s family and all at CCFC.

This is absolutely heartbreaking, and I’m sure we’ll never see the likes of him at our club ever again.

Thanks for everything Whitts, thoughts with your family at this awful time.

Retire 7, get him a statue, name a stand after him. Any and all would be fitting for someone who gave so much to our club.

RIP Pete

A genius on the pitch and a genuine nice guy off it. For me the start of his CCFC career was that glimmer of hope.

I was gutted when we couldn't sign Koumas after his brilliant Loan spell with us. Whitts was the signing that brought that bit of quality and Magic back to the sqaud. We didn't know at the time the legend he would become.

For me he was part of my favourite ever City team.

That O9/10 team , Mcphail, Burke, Ledley, Bothroyd, Chops, Super Kev, Marshall in goals & Whitts who scored 20+ goals and a shed load of assists.

What a joy it was, going down and watching that team play. Fast attacking football with real quality technical players.

My sincere condolences to his family and thank you Whitts for the happy times, the memories and the magic!!

Forever a Bluebird Legend.

I've not posted here for a few years, but I'm absolutely gutted about Whitts. A great servant to the club, a classy player and a nice guy as well.

Absolutely gutted. Thoughts with his young family.

I hope the club do something fitting for him and I like the idea of a posthumous testimonial, as has been posted already.

Oh that left foot. We’ve seen some great players in blue but Whitts is right up there.

If Messi had scored some of those goals he would be worshipped.

Around here Whitts is worshipped.

My respects as a Bristol City season ticket holder to one of the greatest players I've ever seen in an opposition shirt at this level. His distribution was fantastic and I dreaded every free kick you got within 30 yards of goal when he was on the pitch! Also a true professional respected by both our players and fans. What you've had to go through as a club is beyond belief and my heart goes out to you.
