Very worrying UK

Fri Mar 20, 2020 10:32 pm

Here’s how we compare :

CHINA

1 Day: 11th Jan 1 Dead
2 Weeks: 25th Jan 56 Dead
1 Month: 25th Feb 2,595 Dead

ITALY

1 Day: Feb 22nd 2 Dead
2 weeks: March 7th 35 Dead
1 Month: March 19th 3,404 Dead

UK.

1 Day: March 5th 1 Dead
2 weeks: March 19th 144 Dead
1 month: ?????

The difference?
China complete lock down on DAY 12.
Italy lockdown on DAY 16.
U.K.?

Spain Italy China been testing! Only tests we have done are where the nhs has tests and in emergency or private healthcare so the figures for U.K. are actually far worse . On current form and lack of lock down UK is heading to overtake Europe in fatalities and lack of space .

It's coming and it's going to be worse than imagined. No doubt.

But, saying as someone who is Labour through and through and will normally criticise the Conservative Party at every turn, I believe that Boris and Sunak are doing things brilliantly.

All measures are being implemented at the correct time.

It's a long road ahead, but we can get through this and save many lives if we follow the advice the Government gives to us daily.

the dates are wrong...the first corona virus case confirmed in the UK was 31st of January which was prior to Italy or Spain .and if your going to compare I think it fair you use the same dates...eg
February 15th

UK ...9 CASES
ITALY….3 CASES
SPAIN...2 CASES..

TODAY.

ITALY.....4092 DEATHS
SPAIN.....1092 DEATHS
UK....177 DEATHS.

its gonna get worse ..but there is zero evidence the lockdowns in Europe are working.

Tony, whether we trust China or not the figures are pretty self explanatory really, we continue to go out/socialise people will die simple as that.

Figures are distorted when secretive nations have something to gain. This is a great source for up to date figures and shows total global cases, global deaths and recoveries and then broken down by country:-

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Currently death rate seems to be 11% globally. The media (and people on this site are making a mathematical error by looking at total cases and then working out the death rate by using the deaths figure). That’s incorrect.

You use deaths vs recoveries, not total cases. You can only work out the death rate in cases that have had an outcome. That’s why this 5% nonsense was peddled early and people are still clinging to it. Posters like Sven deleting anything that resembles the truth and mocking posters who state it, because it clearly scares him. Very irresponsible to the users of this forum.

However now we look at figures again. China are the cause of this, they also don’t want their economy shutting down quicker than the rest of the world. They have banned US journalists from the country reporting on the situation there. Reports are it is far worse than they are saying.

Using the link . Take out the Chinese figures that cannot be trusted and the death rate for the rest of the world is frightening. It’s nearer 45%.

This is why Boris Johnson, an MP who’s remit is to calm people down. Boldly and clearly stated “many families are going to be losing loved ones before their time”. They know how bad it is.

A doctor in Bergamo Italy in the ICU, said it’s like a coin flip. We do everything we can do, you either live or you die.

The death rate is essentially 50:50.

People are far more resilient than you'll ever believe, fella ;)

There will always be the selfish few (not just in the bars just look at the shops) but look at the TV and you will see the vast majority are heeding the advice given to them and doing what they can to avoid getting or passing on the virus

Not too sure what you'd call them, if you refer to the minority (of mainly young adults) as (quote) "masses"? :?

if you click on death rate on that worldometers site. and then again on the link ..how to work out the morality rate it gives the equation the World Health Organisation use...its not cases v deaths..or deaths v recoveries... and currently stands at 3.4% ..

I used worldometers.. but we are not the only country to not go into total lockdown..Germany haven't either ,although I think Bavaria will be the first state to lockdown tomorrow... different countries are approaching it differently..

You also need to know the total ACTUAL cases not confirmed cases. And as this is believed to be up to 86 percent higher due to the mild symptoms experienced, mostly by children, the death rate is probably a lot lower.

I score 27 goals in one start I'm phenomenal, truth is I've made 165 sub appearances too!

I play a lot of correspondence chess online and one of my opponents works for the Center for Disease Control in the States.

He was saying that they had the signature for this virus completely mapped in January and anticipate treatment to be ready around September.

So guess its about being sensible for the next few months and just getting through it.

Re: Very worrying UK

Sat Mar 21, 2020 8:27 am

Whilst I recognise that we are all in a very serious position, and when I say all I mean the whole world. I don't know why but the UK seems to have got itself just a small window to get the fight in order to combat this thing. I believe the UK are doing as much as it possibly can. I think the government are doing everything possible.
When we look at the likes of Italy and now Spain, the virus had got a hold before anyone really took much notice of it. Italy especially the virus circulated freely for weeks without anything being done, the UK has had the opportunity to quickly learn from Italy and the method of control to "Flatten the curve" are the right methods, the experts say that 80% of the population will get it so in thing the methodology of trying to manage the spread rather that just fire-fighting is the right way, we appear to have been a bit luckier in the UK as we have had a few more weeks to get the health system in some shape to cope with it. Italy looks horrendous, if we can avoid that hten we will have done well

COME ON GUYS LETS TRY TO STAY POSSITIVE AND DO EVERYTHING TO FIGHT THIS THING :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5: :occasion5:

In the grand scheme of things do the exact figures matter.

The WHO and governments will not disclose the exact extent ( which will be 10x worse than publicised) as it will cause mass hysteria.

In the context of my post, I was trying to highlight the importance of keeping large groups of teenagers from congregating, spreading germs and getting up to mischief because they will get bored. Most especially teenage boys!

The fact is that people are dying and in my opinion for what it’s worth, we should folllow the guidance and stay away from others and their should be a lockdown ASAP in the UK.

We all have the responsibility to keep our children and families safe.

I agree we should follow the instructions passed down to us from government. Whilst we must keep our social distance, Maybe we should try to help the likes of the elderly in our community They are in lock down and have many issues around their everyday life as it now is.

Annis, would it not be an idea that we as Cardiff City fans without a great deal of things to do in life, helped form "Cardiff City Help groups" within our communities to support the elderly under the banner of Cardiff fans. Maybe that could be coordinated on this Forum :old:

Police were called to a supermarket yesterday morning in Gorseinon because the store opened up for the first hour for the elderly.

The OAPS stood in a long queue waiting patiently for the doors to open and once they opened the doors there was a push and crush, not from the elderly but from people our age, causing an old lady being pushed to the ground and hurt, ambulance called and took the old lady away. In the store a f*cking low life retard decided to take tinned food from an old gentleman’s basket because he had the last of that item. And yes they were the great British public

More cases were took in the royal gwent last night and I know of an ambulance driver who has got the virus.
I live in the cwmbran area
