The Air Accident Investigation branch says footballer Emiliano Sala and his pilot David Ibbotson had been exposed to harmful levels of carbon monoxide in the cockpit of their private plane when it crashed in the English Channel on 21 January.
Sala's family issue a statement calling for the AAIB to "salvage the wreckage of the plane without further delay" to establish how carbon monoxide entered the cabin.
