Fans taunt Cardiff City boss Neil Harris as Nottingham Forest boss looks secure

Here's your daily dose of news from the City Ground

Forest fans took to the forums and taunted Neil Harris about last nights failure to make it to the final.
Other Forest fans said how Forest will be far stronger than Cardiff City next season.

'Should have brought on Albert' - Nottingham Forest taunt Cardiff City boss Neil Harris after play-off failure

Some fans even posted and taunted, "You cant win promotion on freebies and other clubs players, maybe if you spent some money you would actually be successful."

Where's Albert, Neil?

For the second successive night, Nottingham Forest fans took some solace in the fact one of their Championship rivals failed to grasp their play-off chance.

The night before it was Swansea who eventually fell at Brentford, and last tonight, it was the turn of Neil Harris and Cardiff City.

Despite a deserved 2-1 win at Fulham on the night, Cardiff went down 3-2 on aggregate in the capital with Scott Parker’s men setting up an all-west London final with Brentford at Wembley on Tuesday for a place in the Premier League.

Pressure on after making major Lamouchi call

Sabri Lamouchi is to stay on as Nottingham Forest head coach, being given a chance to build on his first season in English football.

The Frenchman’s future had been in doubt following the Reds’ spectacular collapse during the final run-in, which saw them fail to secure a play-off place.

But the club have opted to keep faith with Lamouchi, who still oversaw Forest’s best league finish for almost a decade.

What Ben Watson has said on his future

Ben Watson’s future is one of the key subjects Sabri Lamouchi will look to resolve at Nottingham Forest, now it’s understood he’s set to remain head coach at the City Ground.

Experienced midfielder Watson is out of contract and is the subject of interest from QPR who are managed by former Reds chief Mark Warburton, and while Forest remain keen to keep him, the lure of a longer-term deal closer to his home in the south east could be tempting.

Steele in demand...

Out-of-contract Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Luke Steele is said to be the subject of “a bit of interest”.

The shot-stopper’s deal with the Reds is set to expire, with no suggestion a new one is in the offing.

Steele spent last season on loan at Millwall, rejoining them in January after his first spell had come to an end, while the last time he wore the Garibaldi was in May 2019.

Da Costa's pledge

January arrival Nuno Da Costa believes Nottingham Forest will be stronger for their play-off heartbreak a week ago.

Da Costa forced his way into Sabri Lamouchi’s plans post-lockdown, initially having suffered with injury after making the switch from French side Strasbourg, and showed glimpses of what could be a bright future in the East Midlands.

The Cape Verde international has yet to find the net at the right end for the Reds, but did suffer the ignominy of scoring an own goal in last Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat to Stoke City as he chased valiantly back in the closing stages to help what proved to be a lost cause.

Any hopes of Welsh representation in the play-off final as Cardiff, like Swansea, are beaten

By Barry Cooper

For the second successive night, Nottingham Forest fans took some solace in the fact one of their Championship rivals failed to grasp their play-off chance.

Last night it was Swansea who eventually fell at Brentford, and tonight, it was the turn of Neil Harris and Cardiff City.

Despite a deserved 2-1 win at Fulham on the night, Cardiff went down 3-2 on aggregate in the capital with Scott Parker’s men setting up an all-west London final with Brentford at Wembley on Tuesday for a place in the Premier League.

Bluebirds boss Harris had previously stoked up the ill-feeling with his former club over the Reds’ refusal to allow loan player Albert Adomah to remain in south Wales once the season resumed last month, and Forest supporters were quick to remind him about Adomah’s absence.

Things started well for Harris when Curtis Nelson headed City in front early into a pulsating tie, only to see Neeskens Kabano equaliser just 24 seconds later.

The Bluebirds came again at the start of the second half with substitute and former Forest loan star Lee Tomlin turning in the net with his first touch, but despite a late barrage of pressure at Craven Cottage, Parker’s Cottagers held on to secure a place under the Wembley arch next week.

And given Harris’ comments earlier in the campaign, Reds fans were quite content to see Fulham progress..

I think that says more about them than us and Neil Harris.

Forest are a big club but haven't been in the Premier League for over 20 years now and not even been in the play-offs since 2011.

Perhaps they should focus on how their own club is doing.

Darren Royal:

Personally I think getting battered on the last day of the season with a big goal swing and falling out of the top six is more comical.

Lol doesn't even warrant rising to the bait....
They have a go at other sides not making it but 2 out of 4 were always not going to make final regardless.
Think I'd be more worried about their own meltdown last 2 games letting a 7 goal swing push them out fukin idiots

Forest managed without doubt the biggest balls up of all time in the last few weeks of the season (and I include our "Preston" season in that) and an unbelievable capitulation on the last day.

And they always do so well against us too.

Bunch of scabby tossers.

I’m shocked they have the balls to even say a thing after one of the most spectacular collapses in recent times, if I was a forest fan I’d say nothing and lie low until Christmas at least

My sentiments exactly, they just had their best season in ten years, and they try and mock us :laughing5: and seeing as we finished above them in the table, that's successful is it not? ;) yes they have tasted some great successes in the past, but recently our record is a fair bit better, and to think they took Adomah back just for spite, couldn't play him,and collapsed on the final day :laughing5: scummy fans that they are. :old: :bluebird:

Whoa the hypocrisy of football fans is astonishing. I seem to remember a thread on here taunting Forest fans about taking AA back when Forest blew up in the playoffs. We are hardly in a position to complain about them doing the same thing.
