PM BORIS JOHNSON SAYS NO FANS TO RETURN

Sky News

Friday 31st July 2020

PM Boris Johnson today announced there will be a further delay in letting sporting fans return to Sporting events.
Next weekend fans were being allowed in smaller numbers to smaller sporting events that’s now been delayed for another two weeks, due to the rise in Cov-19 in the UK.

There was a possibility that football would see crowds return in late October at 30% capacity, that now looks likely to be December or even sometime in 2021 as an even bigger rise is in Cov-19 is expected this Winter in the UK.

So it looks likely that football won’t see crowds till at least the beginning of 2021 at that will be at best 30% capacities.

They were only allowing 5,000 in out of 25.000 splitting them up too around 450 a section..

Now they’ve said zero crowds.

Huge problem for football clubs now who were hoping to sell a decent number of season tickets.

I can't say I'm surprised though, I never really expected thing to improve enough by October for the Government to let fans back and thought they were being overly optimistic in the first place.

Why people thought their would be is beyond me. A lot of people don’t seem to realise basic science. Though that is understandable considering how much of shambles the UK government has been. Politicians are crap at preparing for long term risks as they are far to obsessed with short term GDP growth.

Have the club confirmed that?

Link ?

The club would not confirm that for next season and are offering at the moment free watching it on their tv.

I get all my City games over here free of charge anyway.

But for the 49 consecutive season I have renewed for next season, but to be honest I think I need my brain testing if we might not be allowed in.

Re: PM BORIS JOHNSON SAYS NO FANS TO RETURN

Postby Forever Blue » Fri Jul 31, 2020 1:38 pm

Last night

VINCE ALM:

I attended a meeting earlier at the club to discuss the return of supporters to the stadium and the following statement will be posted on the supporters club website in relation to the meeting.

The supporters club football liaison Officer Vince Alm was invited to a meeting 28-07-20 at Cardiff City stadium to discuss the return of supporters back into the stadium for the coming season. The meeting was attended by officials of Cardiff City Football club, and the local authority.

The main point of the meeting was to discuss the return of fans to the stadium and to develop a safe strategy that will follow government guidance regarding social distancing. The safety of supporters, club staff, players and the support team will take precedence during the decision-making process.

All EFL and Premier league clubs have received a draft copy of planning for social distancing at sports ground which has been published this month. The very detailed and informative document has been written by the Sports Ground Safety Authority to assist clubs to get ready for the UK government Stage Five Return to competition safe return of Spectators. I have to note that this guidance currently only has legal status in England and has been written in conjunction with the UK government and Public Health England who current guidance is a bit more relaxed than Wales. The supplementary document guidance is therefor based on a social distance requirement of 1m provided necessary mitigation measures are in place. In Wales, the law is still 2m so currently we could not implement this guidance at the stadium, but we are hoping for more relaxation in social distancing in Line with England during the coming weeks, although Public Health Wales may provide different guidance to this draft. However the detailed document is a good starting point to start discussion and carry out surveys of the stadium.

So at 2m distance in the stadium the club could not accommodate many and if the UK Government keep setting things back then it’s out of our clubs hands.
There are 10 core areas to the document

1. Social distance and COVID 19 protection – basic principles

2. Assessing the safe capacity of sports grounds

3. Management responsibilities for social distance and COVID-19 protection

4. Management-Facilities, supplies, and installations

5. Circulation-overview of design and management issues for social distancing

6. Circulation-Ingress and social distancing

7. Circulation- vertical and social distancing

8. Circulation-concourse, vomitories, and social distancing

9. Circulation-Egress and social distancing

10. Statutory control

The document has several examples of social distancing seating layouts which have varying reduced capacity percentages depending on which method we can apply following the guidance. The capacity calculations will also have to take into consideration concourse areas, entering and leaving the stadium and queuing.

The guidance outlines that fan engagement is essential to ensure that the guidance is followed, supporters are aware of the restrictions and stick to them to slow the spread. When we are allowed back in it will be very different experience to what we are used to, but the restrictions will be there to protect you, your family, your friends, and your fellow supporters. Everyone who enters the stadium will have to give contact details for the track and trace which is why digital passes will help. The guide has a sample code of conduct for spectators which has plenty of advice on there along with important information. Hygiene, arrive in good time t the ground, stay in your social bubble, avoid close contact with people, cover your mouth if you cough, sneeze etc. a lot of this we already know about but it is a reminder to protect you everyone around you.

There will be further meetings to come up with a safe social distancing strategy for the Cardiff City Stadium and the club want fan representation at these meetings. There will be extended invites to other fan groups like the Disabled supporters and travel group for their valued input, and also to help get the message out to the wider audience to help implement the social distance plan when agreed.

The club has already started dialogue with the welsh assembly and have requested a test event for September which is a recommendation in the guidance. A portion of the ground will be opened to trial the social distancing measures which will be assessed and used as a lesson learnt.

The responsibility and the measures the club have to put in place will be immense and costly but they are prepared to do it because they recognise they need fans in the stadium, and they know fans want to come and support the team. This will be different for us all and it may not appeal to everyone which I fully understand but please be patient the club’s hands are tied they have to follow guidance and put safety measures in place for us to be in there.

This is a serious disease that has already killed 100,000s of people around the world, and it will be a different norm for some time to come.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devasting impact on sport and bringing fans back into the stadium will bring major challenges to overcome while maintaining social distance. The social distance plan is the first of many challenges that we have to overcome on the road to normality, we can only achieve this if we work together as one.

The only way to get fans back in grounds this year is another lockdown. We lifted restrictions too early and allowed people abroad which was a huge mistake . Stop foreign holidays now and we may have a chance

As you’ve once again changed the subject to have another snipe

This was not to do with holidays, but by the sound of it, you Def need one

So your blaming the virus on people going on holiday  not the 15,000 who arrived daily in the UK without any of the tests for months.

Do you know when you arrive in MALLORCA you are actually tested 3 times , when you land still in Bristol No tests and No mention of a quarantine, just another piss take by The Clown Boris.

Thomas, I am with you , but not on the lockdown as you’ve never had one

But you Def need one ASAP, 100% with you on that , a proper lockdown :thumbright: not parties in the parks.

I agree now the season is over for the islands , let’s keep our islands safe now and ban the most infested country in Europe from them Thomas.

We had zero virus and zero deaths at one stage , sadly we were forced to let you in and now we have about 80 with the virus amongst our 1.4mill population, thankfully NO new deaths . Please we need to keep it safe here as UK is sadly once again getting out of control as there is no leadership there , just a clown leading the country.

Now can you keep this topic football / sport as it was and accept Boris is now dithering again about crowds returning.

Every Pub I pass is rammed with no social distance. It was obvious it was going to spike.

Club statement last week said they would revisit the no refund statement if government guidance changed. It just did, im glad I only gave them a shielding deposit.

I don't think we were realistically going to be back in football stadiums this year and said as much previously.

However the truth is it is the behaviour of the British Public that's pushed us back and people not taking it seriously.

Even in Wales now where pubs are still not open indoors I just walked past two pubs that are rammed with no social distancing whatsoever, police also turning a blind eye or just don't feel like there's anything they can do about it as both on a main thorough way

Crowds returning, I can’t see it for a long time and yes it hurts badly , but that’s sadly how life is nowadays.
