165 cases reported on Wednesday

102 on Thursday (they said the data was "incomplete" on Thursday so that should be discounted)

130 reported today.

So even ignoring yesterdays cock up by PHW Wales the daily rate is today lower than on Wednesday.

Being reported by Wales ONline as "another rise in positive cases across Wales".

Again - how is 130 more than 165?

And you call me pedantic :laughing5:

We both are!

The reproduction number - or R value - of coronavirus transmission across the UK has risen above 1, and new restrictions are being introduced in the city of Birmingham and surrounding areas amid a surge in cases

A quick question if anyone knows the answer please?

When we are told that there are say 183 new "coronavirus" infections in a day does that mean that all of them are Covid 19 or does that figure also include other strains of coronavirus such as the flu, the common cold etc?

If you have a test are they only testing you for Covid 19 or are they testing you for any coronavirus?

Perhaps somebody who's had a test could clarify that please?

nowhere near enough information out there on so many things.. and nobody asking the questions, or allowed to ask them..
my first question would be ... how many preventable deaths are the government prepared to accept in their attempt to keep covid infections down... ive seen figures that blow the number of covid deaths away...

Had interesting chat with new cancer patient this morning! If he wasnt so persistent he would not be getting treatment today because his Gp and hospital didnt act on scans he had, covid has taken over the nhs and this is not isolated either...... but unfortunately any cancer deaths and other deaths wont be highlighted only referred to as covid related deaths like now!

mate, i can not remember a general election where the NHS has not been one of the bigger issues. yet here we are in 2020 with a 1960s NHS and no one seems to give two hoots... 6 thousand less admissions for heart attacks and 137 thousand less cancer admissions in England between March and June.... its ok though they are all now wearing masks so all will be hunky dory

Drakeford's reaction? Following Boris and Sturgeon in imposing tougher restrictions and making face masks compulsory in all shops.

Might as well all just stay safe in our houses for the rest of our lives and forget work, socialising, ever seeing friends or family again except over a video link.

Wrong
The latest figures published on Thursday show that there have been 19.5 infections for every 100,000 people in the last week in Wales - a significant rise on the low point of just 3.7 in mid August.

Which part of my post was wrong?
Was the fact that there were a third less infections on Wednesday than there were on Tuesday wrong?

This bit "Yesterdays figures show a decrease in new infections in Wales"
They have gone up not down!

So it was 165 new infections on Tuesday and 102 new infections on Wednesday and that's an increase?

I knew I should have listened a bit better at maths in school though I suppose I should be grateful I was actually able to go to school when I was younger.

Perhaps I should have been clearer and said that there was a fall in the number of daily infections from 165 on Tuesday to 102 on Wednesday - am I still wrong on that?

PHW had an error in reporting yesterday, expect a higher number today.

I've said it on here before but giving a public platform for conspiracy theorists and covid deniers is dangerous. Please take your information from reliable sources.

reliable sources like fullfact.org .......... :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5:

What?

We get it you exclusively read the Daily Mail, calm down.

Daily hospital admissions tripled in England in the last month, thats how it starts, as there is a delay in hospital admissions, then deaths.

I know both sides of the arguments, and it's not as bad as some people make out, but it's not a hoax or as safe as flu either.

ive never claimed its a hoax / conspiracy , although so much just does not add up.... or the flu... as for the other side of the argument, id love to hear it,, not so much on here but on a TV debate or meaningful interview which every single politician has so far kept away from... id love to hear the reason behind sacrificing large numbers of what 6 months ago were regarded as avoidable deaths.. where a big percentage of those people would have gone on to live years with a good quality of life.. along with crashing our economy.. putting millions out of work , and creating an enormous reservoir of depression..

UK care home residents facing fresh restrictions as Covid infections rise
Families face more distress as many homes close doors to visitors

Thousands of families of care home residents are facing fresh distress as operators enforce tighter visitor restrictions and lock down homes as Covid-19 infections rise.

Care UK, one of the largest national operators, has already closed 48 of its 124 care homes to visitors, mostly because of positive tests or because it is awaiting test results. HC One, the largest UK operator, said it had recorded increasing numbers of infections among a small number of staff. Some 133 of its homes are now closed to visitors, and it is restricting visits where wider community infection is high.

Local outbreaks combined with operators’ determination to avoid being overwhelmed by the virus for a second time are driving the moves. This spring and early summer, more than 15,000 people died of confirmed or suspected Covid-19 in English care homes.

Many operators had been planning to ease restrictions and allow more indoor visits this winter. Among them was the Orders of St John Care Trust, which looks after 3,000 residents in 84 homes in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Lincolnshire and Gloucestershire. It is now considering tighter visiting restrictions instead.

UK records further 4,322 coronavirus cases

A further 4,322 coronavirus cases and 27 deaths have been reported in the UK, according to the government's daily figures.
