Championship computer predicts final table after opening results as Swansea City replace Cardiff City in top six

The first weekend of the new Sky Bet Championship season has taken place

The first weekend of the new Championship season is now complete, with mixed results for the Wales-based teams.

Swansea City completed a 1-0 win over Preston North End, thanks to a goal from Wolves loanee Morgan Gibbs-White.

Cardiff City suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, who remain bottom of the table after their 12-point deduction.

Elsewhere we saw Championship newcomers Watford, Bournemouth and Norwich all claim victories following their relegation from the Premier League.

Even though we have only seen each team play one, those at FiveThirtyEight have gone and predicted the final Championship table.

The respected statistics and analysis website has forecast the final standings in the Championship this season, based on a complex model which takes into account a host of factors.

They have crunched the numbers and predicted that Swansea will finish in the top six and compete in the play-offs once again.

For Cardiff, the fresh prediction has them in eighth and narrowly missing out on a chance of promotion to the Premier League.

And down at the foot of the table, the prediction has seen Wycombe, Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday predicted to be the three clubs relegated to League One.

Haven't done it but I'm expecting play offs tbh and I'm also expecting Jacks to be closer to relegation than top 6. It's a long season :old:
