Screaming frustration

There were, perhaps, some teething problems.
This is a squad of players who haven't trained a huge amount together since the end of last season, due to injuries, new signings or international breaks, and that just told a little on Saturday afternoon.
Joe Ralls, Lee Tomlin, Sheyi Ojo, Kieffer Moore and Jordi Osei-Tutu will not have spent too much time together on the training ground and it will be a while before they develop an understanding.
But the frustration was audible on a few occasions.
Moore, a huge aerial threat who won a number of his duels when the ball was lumped forward, looked like the most likely outlet from crosses or balls in, but they never came.
Osei-Tutu would often dart inside and Moore would throw his hands up in exasperation. On one occasion, he yelled at the right back to whip a few crosses in, but they never came.
The same problem, too, came with Ojo and Josh Murphy playing as inverted wingers, often opting to cut inside on their stronger feet instead of hitting the byline and supplying the service to Moore and, when introduced, Robert Glatzel.

Lee Tomlin was brought on as an attacking option in the second half, too, but he had far less impact when crowbarred on to the left wing.
Leandro Bacuna was audible in his venting of frustration, screaming in the middle of the pitch for someone to move, make a run or show for the ball, but it was just a little too static.
So, work to be done there. But this week on the training ground ahead of Nottingham Forest will be invaluable.

Annis as it says in the article not played together, hardly any training together, players away on international duty, it will take time only the first game, us city fans are an impatient lot, early days yet, I can see us going to forest and winning

Maybe Bacuna should be screaming at himself for the suicidal cross field pass to the opposition which put us on the back foot and chasing the game after about five minutes.
And it's not the first time he's done it either - Blackburn home game end of last season. Everyone makes mistakes - the trick is to learn from them and not repeat them.

We haven’t long finished the season where we were training, that is clutching at straws. Ojo aside that is crap. Yeah ok you can’t train through injury but they had been back in training. It’s a typical WOL article, a bit of reality is needed.
Last season Harris managed to gold plate this squad, but we haven’t added enough. Midfield is still the same, it will run around a lot. Wide players still can’t beat a man or cross. Our defence gets pulled everywhere because of midfield. Our strikers have to come deep or chase aimless floaty high balls, because we can’t break through midfield or out wide, because our wide men can’t beat a player, and we don’t have a midfield general to drive us forward.
I have read so much about our defenders, our strikers and how they cost us, yet all our troubles are the 5 men in the middle, 4 if tomlin is playing. Zero quality but all effort. Effort isn’t enough. It needs quality.
