Wow : No pressure on Neil Harris then. Cardiff chairman Mehm

Fri Oct 16, 2020 6:25 pm

No pressure on Neil Harris then. Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman tells @BBCRadioWales after dealings on deadline day: “We’ll be very disappointed if we’re not in the top six by January”

We’ve not even spent any money, for me Dalman is wring .

have to disagree with you there annis, you cant say we havent spent money, we just announced we've bought charltons keeper for an undisclosed fee. (shocking really, other positions needed cover) we've just paid £1.2m to liverpool to loan wilson, and are rumoured to be paying the full £60k a week wages of his.

We are paying £25,000 a week wages and only pay £1mill if promoted.

We have offloaded players on higher wages.

He's speaking as if we've spent millions.

If you look at the Harry Wilson deal, his £25,000 wages are being paid by Sheffield Wednesday taking Aden Flint's wages.

Nobody can say we have not spent money we have spent a fortune on this squad . Its a squad built over a few seasons not one very dodgy covid affected window.

Smithies £4mill
Morrison £4mill
Flint £5mill
Cunningham £4mill
Bacuna £4.5mill
Vaulks £2.5mill
Pack £1.5mill
Tomlin £2.5mill
Murphy £11mill
Whyte £2.5mill
Glatzel £5.5mill
Moore £2.5mill
Vassell £2mill

Big wages and loan fees for Wilson, ojo and Tutu .

This is a expensively built squad over a few seasons and the chairman has every right to expect a top 6 finish. They have backed the manager in pretty much every window including this one.

Thats a £50mill squad

Wow some of you don’t half change your minds when it suits you all.

Most are not Harris signings and some of you all don’t rate these players.

Moore was £1.5mill and many others were not what you’ve read in the media.

Vassell? You must be desperate to mention him .

Tomlin injury prone.

Murphy and Glatzel hmmmm?

I could go and on.

Totally agree with dalman. This squad is top 6 in a weak championship.

Re: Wow : No pressure on Neil Harris then. Cardiff chairman

Fri Oct 16, 2020 6:58 pm

The owner is putting £1m plus a month in to keep us running. The squad is good enough to be top 6 and if it isn’t there then the manager will have questions to answer and that is how it should be. Every manager in this league is under pressure and it’s extra if your a so called bigger club as we undoubtedly are.

Re: Wow : No pressure on Neil Harris then. Cardiff chairman

Fri Oct 16, 2020 7:00 pm

Our style of play, lack of goal threat, penetrable defence and lack of pace and drive through midfield will be the main reasons we end up mid table at best.

Wilson will add quality and a threat at set pieces but it’s a big ask for one man to turn this squad into promotion possibilities. The squad needs freshening up - Hoilett Ralls Pack etc are pedestrian at best. Moore and Glatzel are not 15+ goalscorers.

Yes the board have spent money over the years but on the wrong players PLUS there’s nothing coming up from the youth. The latter is a major major problem.

Re: Wow : No pressure on Neil Harris then. Cardiff chairman

Fri Oct 16, 2020 7:04 pm

The latter is not a major problem. Youth will come in a few years if you listen to harris and the club. The 17 and 18 year group.

How anyone can be down after this window is beyond. In a pandemic we have just signed keither Moore and Harry Wilson. Welsh boys....let's enjoy the ride and see where it takes us....

Well done harris and the owners for the deals done and higher wage players have left and not good enough....we have strengthened well

Its irrelevant of you like the players or not

Its irrelevant if they start games

Its irrelevant if Harris signed them or someone else

So because Vassell is injurybprone that is the clubs fault ? They still paid a lot of money for him on the managers advice

The only thing that matters is the club has backed the last few managers including Harris.

We have spent a lot of money this window compared to other clubs in the division and before today were 5th highest spenders

Harris has been backed a lot since he came in with two Welsh internationals and multiple premier league loan players which are not cheap.

I cant believe the negative attitudes to this post.

The squad we have this evening is much stronger than the squad we had this morning. We were never going to get every player we wanted, but we have some good acquisitions and Wilson is a definite plus.

Miserable bunch on here :banghead:

Backed Harris

With 2 permanent signings in 11 months and cleared out 22 players.

Vassell sorry can’t agree.

And it’s irrelevant because you say so.

What I will agree on the Championship is not that strong and if no injuries for us and then if Harris is a real top quality manager then just maybe sneak 6th, just.

100% agree the squad is stronger this afternoon than this morning without a doubt, no one said that ? ?

Just saying in my opinion needed a couple more players for a promotion push :thumbright:

I will be looking back on this topic come May, I 100% hope I am proven wrong.
I am just feeling that our manager needed 4 more players ( not incl goalie)and he said that himself the other day.

What

It depends which way you look at it

I see it as we have signed the Welsh national teams #1 striker

We have signed a liverpool player in Wilson rated at £20mill which multiple teams were after.

We have signed a highly rated young keeper today for what would be a decent fee

We have this season signed 2 highly rated young Premier league players on loan from two of the biggest clubs in the world

Last season we signed another two Premier league full backs plus Albert Adomah

If you put all the transfer fees loan, loan fees and High premier league wages together we are probably looking at a outlay of over £6mill within a year in a period where no fans are allowed to watch games.

I'm fairness if it wasn't for Covid I would have expected more but given the circumstances we've done pretty well

credit where credit is due. Neil Harris has corrected the squads imbalance and we have a smaller squad with somehow more starters than the one he inherited.

Not sure if he is adamant he wants three centre half come what may, its the only thing I can think of.

But i believe Moore, Wilson and Murphy has goals.
I love Ralls,Bacuna and Vaulks as a destructive midfield.

Back 4 or 5 and play with 2 sitter instead if 3. Really interesting

We are Cardiff City of course anything but top 6 is a fail !!!!

Re: Wow : No pressure on Neil Harris then. Cardiff chairman

The expectations are built on last season finish, but all things considered, Harris deserves at least another transfer window to prove his work.

And some more backing for that matter

It would be a major boost if our £11m winger Murphy when picked actually performs.

Still reckon Gavin Whyte has something to offer.

Likewise Glatzel as unconvinced that Moore is the talisman people think he is.

Overall a good window but disappointed not to have cover at RB and CB despite efforts.

PNE will be a tough game especially as Johnson for them is back plus that Sinclair.

I feel we will do well to end up in the top 6 come the end of the season.

To claim that we should be top 6 by Christmas is very bold. If we had this squad during pre-season when they would be able to gel then yes but we have only just got it. Its going to take a few games to get going and by Christmas we might be firing on all 4 cylinders. Then if we are in touching distance of the top 6 we just might do it.

Leeds, wba and Fulham were all quality championship sides...replaced by Watford, Norwich Bournemouth....no big clubs all decent but not huge clubs and most have sold there best players.

Wycombe, Coventry and Rotherham coming up.....

I agree championship is always tough and thats why I love it. But the teams coming up and down has in my view made it without doubt weaker than last season.

Plus city have done great business to be stronger

Norwich have not sold any of their best players....... teams have been strengthening despite covid and no fans so championship is far from weaker than last season..... if anything its stronger and certainly just as competitive as previous years.

Nothing wrong with Dalman saying that.

Like it or not, this board has put money out there in probably the most difficult window ever seen in football for most clubs.

On top of that the owner is ploughing money in to keep us afloat every month.

The signing of Wilson was the most expensive option over the Barnsley guy. They haven’t gone cheap.

Signing a Premier league international defender wasn’t the cheap option either.

Moore wasn’t a cheap option. Nor were the two youngsters on loan.

Some people have an agenda against the owners that make their comments laughable.

I don’t know whether it’s enough for promotion but credit where it’s due they’ve had a go.

Re: Wow : No pressure on Neil Harris then. Cardiff chairman

Perhaps we are seeing a significant change in transfer policy , many many clubs have used the loan system to gain promotion, perhaps that is the new policy.

a long time since we had 4 loans.
