Cardiff City are delighted to confirm the signing of Filip Benković on loan from Leicester City.

The 23-year-old is a Croatian international centre-back, who began his career at Dinamo Zagreb. He moved to the UK in 2018, joining Leicester.

While he is yet to make his Premier League bow for the Foxes, the towering defender has experienced SPFL & Championship football in the past two seasons, enjoying temporary spells with Celtic and Bristol City.

Filip links up with the Bluebirds for the entirety of the 2020/21 Championship campaign, subject to international clearance.

Loan | Filip Benković links up with the Bluebirds



Cardiff City are delighted to confirm the signing of Filip Benković on loan from Leicester City.

So I been told by my Bristol City Mate great signing for us there fans are gutted not to get him back on loan.

This is quite interesting. I very much doubt that Leicester would send him out on loan to sit on the bench at a Championship side which suggests he may have been signed as a starter.

Unlikely that it'll be instead of the club captain so does this mean that Nelson's place is under threat?

Its about time he has been poor recently . He needs to work on his positioning and reading ofbthe game as be gets caught out by the better strikers in this league

It wouldn't surprise me if we played a back 3 either though

That's possible but the last few times we've played with a back three have been disastrous if my memory is correct.

I think a back 3 would suit Nelson more than as a pair

My mate is Bristol City fan and he said this guy is quality, probably too good for the championship. But he's quite injury prone apparently.

Id imagine he'll replace Nelson at cb in time. Unless we switch to a back three - although that hasn't really worked out so far

Great signing. This guy is better than any of our CBs. Played rb a few times at Celtic aswell. Very good with the ball at his feet. Hopefully he's over his injury problems now.
