Covid-related patients in NHS in Wales up by 49% in a week

The number of Covid-related patients in Wales' hospitals has risen by 49% in a week.

Welsh NHS boss Andrew Goodall said more than 700 people were being looked after - the highest number since late June.

The chief executive said demand for beds would continue to increase in the days and weeks ahead.

"I anticipate this winter will be more challenging than any I have known in my professional career," Mr Goodall told a Welsh Government press conference.

It comes as the Welsh Government said it was "planning very seriously" for a circuit breaker lockdown.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in hospital - where a patient has tested - is 326, up 70% on two weeks ago, Mr Goodall said.

That is half of the peak in April, "but I am concerned at the rising trend", he added.

And this is why cannot believe what WG says? They say 473 patients in hospital with suspected or confirmed covid.....they go on to say there is 260 being treated in Welsh hospitals with confirmed covid? So depending on what figures they use will depend on what they will do regarding lockdown very easily manipulated by looks of things..

They have been using statistics for 9 months to justify the various control measures. Just a couple ; deaths 'from Coronavirus' in the UK are not subject to autopsies, Often the Doctor/coroner signs the certificate without even seeing the patient. Second, death rates - already tiny - have plummeted, by some reckoning to 0.1% of those infected.

It's still a concern for over 70's with chronic conditions, but the hysterical way the doctors/politicians have reacted is putting the whole nation close to collapse..

Other day they quoted so many deaths from "SUSPECTED" covid ...... they then turned around later and said so many deaths were from covid.. suspect and actually are two different words meaning different things...

Covid: Circuit-breaker lockdown 'likely for Wales'

A limited circuit-breaker lockdown for Wales is due to be announced in the next few days, the BBC has been told.

Restaurateurs, food businesses and unions have called for urgent clarity on the government's plans to stop the spread of Covid-19.

Hospitality firms and council leaders were briefed this week.

The Welsh Government said there was a growing consensus a different set of measures were needed, but no decisions have been made.

No outline has been given of which sectors may have to close, but a group of businesses say there are proposals to shut hospitality.

A circuit-breaker is a short period of time where tighter restrictions are brought in to break the trajectory of coronavirus cases rising.

It is not yet clear when the announcement will be made, or for how long a limited shutdown would last.

Effect already being seen as rds yesterday far more quieter than previous couple of weeks...

2/ Go to restaurants without being surrounded by plastic shielding.
3/ Go to the pub like we used to
4/ Go to the supermarket without it looking like downtown China with everyone wearing gob stoppers.
5/ Being able to travel around the country no restrictions.
6/ Start going on holidays again.
And everyone is happy knowing the scared ones don’t need to be scared any longer it’s win win win for everyone.

Of the 1k+ deaths in welsh nursing homes reported to be covid only 120 were actually covid deaths O.N.S report Using deaths above average over a time period......How many of the nationwide deaths supposed to be covid are actually covid if they got this so wrong?

Will Christmas be cancelled this year? Drakeford just put us in lockdown supposedly for 2wks but more likely be longer.... social distancing will certainly be in place so how can people have works night or out go for meals! And there is the shopping does anyone fancy standing outside in the snow or rain for god knows how long because to many people in shop? Think best bet is get the beer in early fill the freezer and chill at home until xmas as gone.

Well drakeford believes it's a last resort as he doesn't know what else to do... he as put in place financial measures for certain businesses but is relying on Westminster to prop up the rest.. my problem with this measure is it will only come back once lockdown is lifted exactly what happened when restrictions were lifted previously!
