MY VIEW:TONIGHT CARDIFF CITY VISITED STRUGGLING DERBY COUNT

Postby Forever Blue » Wed Oct 28, 2020 9:36 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION:

TONIGHT CARDIFF CITY VISITED STRUGGLING DERBY COUNTY & WITH CARDIFF'S AWAY RECORD ONE OF THE BEST IN FOOTBALL & DERBY COUNTY WITH THE WORST HOME RECORD IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP, DERBY HAD NOT EVEN GAINED ONE POINT AT HOME THIS SEASON OR EVEN SCORED A GOAL BEFORE TONIGHT.

Derby got their first draw/point and Cardiff struggled against a dreadful Derby side.

Cardiff now only got 3pts from their last 9pts, draws are no good.

City's squad is not strong enough and it was proved tonight.

Cardiff City were without Harry Wilson & Derby without Wayne Rooney.

Derby after 5 consecutive home defeats, managed to halt that tonight.

First-Half: Terrible half by Cardiff, it took 41mins to have a proper strike at Derby's goal, Derby deserved to go in 1-0 up.

Second-half: Cardiff attacked more, still not great, but got back in game, Moore scoring.

DERBY COUNTY 1 CARDIFF CITY 1
H/T 1-0

Cardiff City:4-2-3-1): Smithies; Bacuna, Morrison, Nelson, Bennett; Pack, Vaulks; Ojo, Ralls, Hoilett; Moore.

Subs: Phillips, Bamba, Bagan, Murphy, Whyte, Harris, Glatzel.

First 20mins: poor start from both sides, with Derby just shading it.

25th min Derby County 1-0 Cardiff City (Waghorn)

Waghorn scores from a free-kick and gets Derby their first home goal of the season

Cardiff were then continually under pressure with Smithies making a safe, Bennett doing well
Jozwiack playes a lovely one-two with Waghorn and unleashed a shot from close range, but Bennett threw his body in the way to keep the shot at bay! :thumbright: :bluebird:

41st min, Cardiff's first chance,Moore won his dual to head at goal, but the ball clipped the outside of the post!

H-T 1-0

51st min, Junior Hoilett hit the upright with a header at the back post. So close!
2nd time this match Hoilett hit the post.

Then later on, City were all over the place
A terrible pass from Joe Bennett put City in all sorts of trouble and Waghorn looked to be through, but Morrison and Bennett managed to slide into one another and keep it out before he pulled the trigger.

62nd min Robert Glatzel on, Will Vaulks off. :bluebird:

Waghorn breaked after Tom Lawrence releases him, he took on Nelson and skipped past, but Smithies came out quickly to smother. Top keeping, :bluebird:

Most of the game played in the middle of the park, suiting Derby County.

the last 15mins, Cardiff upped their game and went forward more.

77mins, great finish by Moore 1-1 :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:
Sheyi Ojo did so well, Hewent through the middle of the pitch and slid through an inch-perfect ball for Kieffer Moore to finish :bluebird: :bluebird:

Both having chances in last mins.

My Man of the match Sheyi Ojo :bluebird: :bluebird:

Fed up of seeing this team not turn up from the start then going behind making it an uphill task to get anything.

I can only see a mediocre season for us.

This guy is worse than Slade. The 12 months he'll be at the city will be the highlight of his managerial career.

I disagree our squad us good enough. Missed key players in either tomlin or Wilson and we would have won...

i disagree that this is a poor squad. There is plenty of talent there but the transition from Warnock to Harris implementing a new style is not working. Its ponderous and too slow and Harris is too slow to address it as well. The quality of basic crossing is abysmal. That has to be coached better. It was a good equaliser but City are a mess at the moment. Lets hope Wilson and Tomlin can spark some confidence otherwise a mid table season beckons as we are already behind.

Not sure if its because there is no fans but that match was hard to watch, not because it looked like both teams were dreadful but because it was boring to watch. Yes goals were lacking but so was the quality Hoilett cant do anything so he blasts the ball over all the time and without Wilson we look like we lacked the quality throughout the game.

Only positive was a decent footballing goal with FORWARD passing into space rather than the usual sideways stuff

2 points dropped NQAT.

Am I alone in thinking that Ralls is just not at the races this season ?

He’s hardly passed the ball to a City player so far and the opposing central midfielders are dominating every game. We need Bacuna’s legs in there.

Wasted points away is when 2 nil up and draw or lose....otherwise any point away in championship is a good point no matter what form opponent are in.

Harris needs to be more positive/brave with his team selection. We can't keep going 1-0 down before having a go. Bournemouth was a good result, boro was ok but that's 2 points dropped tonight.

Derby are a very poor side and Harris starts with pack, vaulks and ralls in the middle. Harris said ojo can play in the no.10 position. With wilson and Tomlin out, that's where he should have started. With Murphy/whyte on the wing. We need to play with more width as well

So if we had won on sat today would be a good point? Will agree to disagree all away points are good unless like said you dont win after being 2 goals up. Must not forget it's the championship we are talking about.

Just saw their goal again smithies poor positioning as waghorn could only put ball where he did which appears a weakness of his at freekicks... and worst of all was moore at end of wall only needed to jump 6ins and would have headed ball... ffs hes over 6ft tall no ball should go over him and still go in.. hope Harris looks at this as it's not 1st time its happened.

for all the years ive watched you would be correct..but. its different this season mate the advantage of being at home has gone.. which makes wins away far more important ..

That was the first time we've conceded a league goal away this season.

But we are yet to keep a clean sheet at home and have conceded the first goal in all four home games.

We've only scored more than one goal, in eight games home or away, at Forest.

There are very mixed signals.

If we are going to play more football than we saw in Warnock era then we have a long way to go as our midfield simply isn't good enough.

I suspect our seasons success or not will entirely depend on how many minutes fully fit Wilson and Tomlin spend on the pitch.
