INJURY UPDATE:

Friday 30th October 2020 :bluebird:

NEIL HARRIS:

"Harry Wilson, right at the end of training [Tuesday], just a hip flexor, his left groin area, tightened up," Harris said.

"We are hopeful that there is no long term in it, we are hoping it's a really short turnaround. I'm not sure if we'll see him on the weekend, we will have to see when we are back in tomorrow and Friday.

"To lose him, he is a big blow because he started like a house on fire with us. So he's not going to be long.

Harris is similiarly hopeful on the fitness of Tomlin, whose creativity has been missing since he was sent off against Blackburn and who has barely featured this season.

After a somewhat underwhelming attacking performance against the Rams, Harris will be hoping to have the two players back sooner rather than later.

"Lee Tomlin is very close as well, which will give us another maverick in the side, great use of the ball, a real goal threat and a clever player for us at this level.

"It will certainly add quality for us having those two players back in the group."

However, the news on Osei-Tutu isn't quite so positive.

The full-back has seemingly aggravated a hamstring problem first picked up in the win over Preston North End, and could well be out until the trip to Millwall next month.

"Jordi's not a great one, hamstring, he is going to be out until at least the international break, unfortunately," Harris said.

"It's just really unlucky. We have lost two full-backs in the space of a week.

"Jordi is going to be a loss for us because he was just showing what a good player he is going to be.

"But getting Harry Wilson and Lee Tomlin back into the group will give us a real attacking impetus to our play and hopefully Jordi won't be long."

Neil Harris says Lee Tomlin is also "very close" to featuring for the first time since 3 October, but described on-loan Arsenal right-back Osei-Tutu's injury as "not a great one".

"We are not going to see him certainly in the next four to six weeks," he added.

Isaac Vassell could feature in January.

About QPR

Queens Park Rangers Football Club, commonly abbreviated to QPR, is an English professional football club based in White City, London. The club currently competes in the English Championship, the second tier of English football. They were founded in 1886 after the merger of Christchurch Rangers and St Judes Institute, although their official founding date is 1882 which is when Christchurch Rangers were first formed. In the early years after the club's formation in its original home of Queen's Park, London, they played their home games at many different grounds, until finally the club settled into its current location at Loftus Road, renamed Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium at the beginning of the 2019/20 season.

The club's achievements include winning the League Cup in 1967, and they were FA Cup finalists in 1982. Their highest ever league finish was achieved in 1975–76 when they were runners-up in the First Division, now known as the Premier League, and qualified for Europe for the first time, reaching the quarter-finals of the 1976–77 UEFA Cup. QPR won the English Championship in 2011, and also the English Championship playoff final in 2014.

QPR have long-standing rivalries with several other clubs in the West London area. The most notable of these are Chelsea, Fulham and Brentford.

Always enjoyed trips up there. They were a very good side late 80s when Trevor Francis was Manager.

Cardiff City boss Neil Harris delivers injury update on Harry Wilson, Lee Tomlin and Arsenal loanee Jordi Osei-Tutu

The three players were missing from Cardiff City's 1-1 draw with Derby County at Pride Park

Cardiff City boss Neil Harris is hoping to have Harry Wilson and Lee Tomlin back in action ahead of this weekend's clash with Queens Park Rangers, but admits Jordi Osei-Tutu is set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Wilson, who was signed on the final day of the domestic transfer window, has already emerged as a key attacking player for the Bluebirds, and was a surprise absentee from Wednesday night's 1-1 draw with Derby County at Pride Park.

The City boss revealed after the game that the Liverpool loanee picked up a problem during training before the trip to the East Midlands, but is clearly hopeful that it won't be too long before the forward is back in action.

Match facts:

QPR have won four of their last five home league matches against Cardiff City (D1), scoring 10 goals in their last three home matches against the Bluebirds (W3).

Cardiff conceded six goals in their away league match against QPR last season, a 6-1 defeat – it was the first time they’d shipped six goals in a league match since March 2014, when they lost 6-3 to Liverpool.

QPR are winless in seven matches (D4 L3), failing to score in each of their last four Championship games – they last failed to score in five consecutive league games back in December 2002.

Cardiff have failed to win any of their last 11 away league games in London (D3 L8), losing the last three in a row.

Cardiff boss Neil Harris is winless in his four previous Championship matches against QPR manager Mark Warburton (D1 L3), including inflicting Harris’ heaviest league defeat as a manager in this exact fixture last season (QPR 6-1 Cardiff).

What's the team news

Cardiff City look likely to be boosted by the reintroduction of Lee Tomlin.

The Bluebirds playmaker has endured an injury-hit start to the campaign owing to a chronic issue with his hip and groin, however it looks as though he could feature against QPR today.

There was positive news regarding Harry Wilson, too, with the prognosis being an impingement on his hip and no muscle injury. Whether today's clash is too soon for him, having missed the midweek clash with Derby, remains to be seen. However he will certainly be back for next week's games.

Filip Benkovic played for the under-23s this week against Hull City and his fitness is on the up, so he, too, could travel to London with the squad.

Elsewhere, we learned after the Rams draw that Jordi Osei-Tutu will be out for up to six weeks with his hamstring injury, while Greg Cunningham's own hamstring issue will keep him out for a few more weeks still.

Isaac Vassell is still a long-term absentee.

For QPR, Rob Dickie is set to miss the game after his red card against Barnsley in midweek, while Bright Osayi-Samuel may also be sidelined, having also missed that clash amid an ongoing contract dispute.

In terms of injuries, the Rs are still without Lee Wallance and Luke Amos.

Looking forward to this one at a traditional (proper) stadium and with City needing to put last season's visit to bed :thumbright:

Never predict a City result but will be disappointed not to get something (hopefully everything) from this one! :D

But there's a delay for QPR. There are some murmurings in the press box that the hosts might have to change part of their kit to avoid a clash.

Great save

QPR carve City open there and the ball is laid off for former Bluebird Albert Adomah, who is free in the box and looks certain to score, but Smithies manages to tip it over from point-blank range!

Perhaps we didn't take a second kit? Unlikely, as we are the away team, so maybe the 'clash' was perceived by the match referee himself (he has that prerogative) and easier for QPR to change theirs? :?

Yoann Barbet whips in a delightful cross with his left foot and Morrison is sprawling backwards under pressure at the back post and has to concede another corner.

The corner finds Barbet at the edge of the box but he blazes over with his volley.
