" Very sad news about Sol Bamba "

Mon Jan 11, 2021 7:03 pm

CARDIFF CITY FC:

We are saddened to inform supporters that Sol Bamba has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.⁣

With the close support of the Club's medical team, Sol has immediately started a course of chemotherapy treatment.⁣

Universally admired by teammates, staff and supporters in the Welsh capital, Sol has begun his battle in typically positive spirits and will continue to be an integral part of the Bluebirds family. During treatment, Sol will support his teammates at matches and our younger players within the Academy, with whom he will continue his coaching development.⁣

All future updates on Sol’s progress will be provided only via official Club channels. While we request privacy for him and his family at this time, messages of support to be passed on to Sol may be sent to club@cardiffcityfc.co.uk.⁣

We are all with you, Sol.

Very sad news, my mum has this and unfortunately its not cureable but it is treatable, generally offers the patient a pretty normal life on and off for 15-20 years, a good outcome for a 70 something but not such a good prognosis for a 30 something with a young family in the prime of life. Good luck though big man

Very sad for Sol but on a positive note, my mother had the same in her late 40's and they sorted it completely and they can hopefully sort it for Sol

What a man
Running into the fans after scoring that goal southampton?
and breaking that guys glasses and then taking the guy to buy a new pair how many players would have done that top man.

Yes, completely agree, there is a high success rate for treating this illness .... My son had NHL as a 13-year-old in 1990 and after 31 years he celebrated his 44th Birthday today ..... treatments have come a long way since that time

Mate without getting into a debate about it this cancer is 99% curable.
It’s common to get in your 20s but the prognosis is generally excellent.

My good friend had it when she was 25. It returned when she was early 30s and again late 30s.
She’s now 52 and is fine.
I’m not undermining this at all but it’s not the death sentence that a lot of cancers are. In fact a Chest consultant friend told me some time ago that if you get cancer this is the one to have. Sounds terrible but it’s a fact.

I wish Sol all the best with the treatment.
My favourite player in recent years and a lovely guy.
