' GREG CUNNINGHAM '

Greg Cunningham also finds himself out of contract at the end of the season, but with 19-year-old Joel Bagan emerging as a hugely-impressive prospect, it appears increasingly unlikely the Republic of Ireland international will be kept on beyond this season.

Cardiff are hellbent on showing youth a pathway and Bagan, who is thought to be the heir to Bennett's No.3 shirt in the long term, will play a far greater role next term.

It is understood that Cardiff are interested in exploring the option of signing a winger this month, but only if funds are freed to enable them to do so.

With Josh Murphy having been used sparingly this term, the same goes, too, for Gavin Whyte, there are a couple of players who are candidates for the exit door.

' JOE DAY '

Joe Day has sealed a short-term loan deal at Bristol Rovers, which will take him to the end of his current contract, and it is expected that he will then depart the Bluebirds.

Whether Day's future is at The Rec in the long term remains to be seen, with the Gas' first-choice keeper Anssi Jaakkola being Finland's No.1 and thought of very highly at the club.

' SOL BAMBA '

Sol Bamba is another whose playing contract expires at the end of the current campaign. However, that will be the last thing occupying the club icon's mind following the announcement of his devastating cancer diagnosis this week.

Bamba is, of course, thought of incredibly highly within the club and there is a huge desire within the current regime to keep him at the club in some capacity beyond this season.

' TOM SANG '

And, lastly, there is Tom Sang.

The former Manchester United academy player spent the first half of the season on loan at League Two high-flyers Cheltenham Town, however he struggled to nail down a position within the team.

Sang, who also penned a one-year deal last summer, was recalled by the Bluebirds earlier this month and it is thought he will have at least some part to play in the remainder of the campaign.

The club will monitor his progress in the back half of the season and decide on whether to extend his stay in the Welsh capital.
