Preston manager Alex Neill:

Preston manager Alex Neill:

"The game finished 4-0 but it didn't feel like a 4-0, not in a million years. I've been involved in them where one team is very dominant, but we caused our own problems.

"If you make those mistakes at this level, then you won't give yourself an opportunity to get anything from the game.

"It's a harsh lesson and a sore one to take, but we've only got ourselves to blame."

We were clinical but he’s not a million miles off.

They had 64% possession and same amount of shots as us.

At two nil had they scored would have been tight. They didn’t.

Had a look at the Preston forum match day thread and most of their fans are calling for Alex Neill's head.

For me Preston gave up and made it easy for us.

Those 2 penalty misses killed them off.

Not one you'd want to see (publicly) on a spike, Paul ;)

Knew he'd have something contrary to say.

Scared of admitting he got Micked. Watch our recent games, if you give us the chance to press we are very dangerous on the counter, and AN's tactics were uninspiring (as usual).

You don't lose 4-0 and blame everyone else but yourself... Sorry, but if you know you have players prone to mistakes then don't have them playing out from the back so much

Same suckerball as Harris served up. Players who offer very little in possession given the ball to get the possession stats up.

Decent ball playing centre halfs or DCM get snapped up by bigger clubs, so it highly unlikely many teams "outplay" well organised teams.

Keep it tight, make few mistakes and have a front three who can score = doing well in the championship

It wouldn't look good to his employers if he said they got turned over and he'll have to go back to the drawing board before their next match. I don't like the guy but from a self-preservation point of view his reaction was predictable.

Why don't these managers realise that the fans have far more respect for them when they are honest. There was nothing worse than watching us lose miserably under Harris and then listen to him say that we played well.

Fans would have more respect if managers treated them with some, instead of blowing smoke up their arse and saying we didn’t deserve that. You set the team up and decided tactics.
