Mon May 03, 2021 11:01 am

Tomlin apparently not in Mick McCarthys’s plans for next season.

CARDIFF CITY U23’S:

And NO Lee Tomlin yet again.

A well earned away draw :thumbright: :bluebird:

Cardiff City: Trialist, Jones, Martin, King (Trialist 60'), D'Almeida, Bodenham (Ashford 87'), Davies, Bowen, Zimba, Kavanagh (Denham 87'), Evans. Subs: Ratcliffe.

UPDATED: :bluebird:

The Cardiff City U23’s after losing their last outing at home to Coventry’s U23’s 1-6 last week, The U23’s gained a credible away draw away at Barnsley today :bluebird: :bluebird:

Be interesting who will be playing up at Barnsley for City?

Lee Tomlin has missed the last 2 U23's due not feeling well etc and Big Mick wanted to see Tomlin in action and see how har his fitness had improved.

This Monday afternoon :bluebird:

Barnsley U23's 1 Cardiff City U23's 1
H-T 1-0

What's up with Tomlin?

I am a fan of Tomlin but after this if he pulls out again he is just taking the piss and thinks he is above playing for 23s. A bit of a loss but time to move on I think. Disappointing to say the least! :bluebird:

1-1 at the moment with just over ten minutes to go.

Not sure who's playing.

Tried to find it everywhere, but can't.

Didn't even know they'd changed it until today until I posted on here with about ten minutes left of it.

Hopefully someone will do a report of it later with the teams on it.

We all know Tomlin is effectively sacked . .. he’s not fit enough and not trying. Being injured was his position on MM arrival. Operation successful . No effort on diet or focus on fitness. Get pushed out of 1st team training and U23s . No comments .. that a big F off from club

I've said this for a while and in a recent post on here... But Tomlin's attitude when injured is disgraceful.

He seems to make no attempt at managing his weight despite having access to plenty of resources, experts and equipment.

He piles on so much weight it means his recovery takes so much longer than it needs to be.

Absolutely shocking that he appears to make no effort in managing his weight. I don't buy it that perhaps he naturally puts on weight... He's a professional footballer who should be crawling over broken glass to play... So staying on a diet when injured is the smallest of sacrifices.

Cardiff City's U23 side took a well-earned point on the road from Barnsley on Monday afternoon, following a competitive 90 minutes at Oakwell. :bluebird: :bluebird:

Chanka Zimba

Chanka Zimba's second half equaliser ensured that the hosts did not come away the victors, after the Tykes had gone ahead in the first half through Will Lancaster.

The Bluebirds went behind at the half-hour mark due to Lancaster's strike from the edge of the area, which the City 'keeper could do nothing about as the ball flew in at the top right corner.

The hosts managed to get some of the better early chances, which demanded crucial interventions from the centre-back pairing of Jack Bodenham and Tavio D'Almeida, who did well to manage the threats despite going behind.

On the other end, Isaak Davies posed a threat to Barnsley throughout, with a particular early chance demanding a sliding block from the hosts' Rudi Pache, whose effort kept Davies from getting his name on the scoreboard.

With the second half opening with City behind by a single goal, the Bluebirds' intentions were clear as they drove forward in numbers, committed to finding an equaliser.

Under the blanket of rainfall that afternoon in South Yorkshire, it was Zimba who finally managed to bring the scores level, who struck home clinically following some fine buildup play.

Now with a firm foothold on proceedings, City kept up their pressing to try to find a winner. Though ultimately unable to do so, they held fast in defence as well despite increased late pressure, earning a point whilst spoiling the result for the hosts.

U23 FINAL SCORE: BARNSLEY 1-1 CARDIFF CITY

Barnsley: Addai, Pache, Omar, Kitching (Hodgson), Helliwell, Lancaster, Oduor, Trialist, Marsh (Trialist), Miller (Chapman), Thompson. Subs: Binns, Simpson.

Cardiff City: Trialist, Jones, Martin, King (Trialist 60'), D'Almeida, Bodenham (Ashford 87'), Davies, Bowen, Zimba, Kavanagh (Denham 87'), Evans. Subs: Ratcliffe.
