Postby worcester_ccfc » Sat Jun 05, 2021 1:00 am

FULL TIME: WALES 0-0 ALBANIA

Wales complete preparation for Euro 2020 with a 0-0 draw against Albania at Cardiff City Stadium in a very competitive friendly.

There were aroung 6,500 Wales fans in attendance.

There were 7 yellow cards in total.

Important to stress these games are all about fitness really.

But we played much better in the second half when Kieffer Moore came on.

Wales will fly to Baku, Azerbaijan on Monday ahead of the first Euro 2020 game against Switzerland there next Saturday at 2pm (UK time).

WALES STARTING ELEVEN

Wayne Hennessey
Ethan Ampadu
Chris Mepham
Ben Davies
Neco Williams
Rhys Norrington-Davies
Dylan Levitt
Joe Allen
Aaron Ramsey
David Brooks
Tyler Roberts

WALES SUBSTITUTES

Danny Ward
Adam Davies
Chris Gunter
Connor Roberts
Joe Rodon
Ben Cabango
Matthew Smith
Jonny Williams
Rubin Colwill
Harry Wilson
Gareth Bale
Kieffer Moore

Neco Williams was supposed to be suspended but FAW released a statement saying he can play

Wales have their second and final pre-Euro 2020 warm up friendly tonight against Albania at Cardiff City Stadium.

There will be around 6,500 fans in attendance - the first crowd in Cardiff City Stadium for over a year and the first for a Wales match since November 2019.

The game kicks off at 5pm.

This is after our 3-0 defeat in France on Wednesday.

Neco Williams is suspended after being sent off in that game but everyone else is available, as there were no injuries picked up in Nice.

The game is live on Sky Sports and S4C.

Don't think page fancies him at all, not sure why because he's our only real attacking threat up top as a striker

Seems that way but we are not overly blessed as a goal scoring Team so it doesn’t really add up in my mind.

So as it only effected friendlies no point in banning him for 1 game! :o

No this could well be the norm if restrictions are not lifted by start of season? Social distancing drakeford says may not be lifted until end of the year what effect that as on crowds time will tell .... but apparently only 4k or less at game today because of problems with app and being covid complient ..

Spine-tingling to hear our fans sing our national anthem in the stadium again.

Sounded brilliant despite the limited numbers.

Shouldn't have been suspended anyway.

In international friendlies, it is also down to the host FA to decide whether VAR will be used.

FAW decided not to use VAR for this game.

Actually it has nothing to do with fifa as it is eufa that covers internstionals, but eufa does not regulate friendly matches and told Faw that is their responsibility what sanctions to give, so the faw said ok we are not going to ban neco

Did surprise me a bit. Ramsey playing as a false nine today.

But most of the players that have played in these two friendlies are players who need to build up their fitness.

Moore doesn't need that, the few weeks rest between the season ending and the Switzerland game will do him some good - he's looked knackered for months.

Even if he doesn't start in the Euros, he's very useful to bring on when defenders are tired.

But some of the players who are playing today almost certainly won't start against Switzerland - such as Tyler Roberts.

HT: 0-0

Not much to get excited about in that first half.

Very competitive, with as many as three yellow cards already being shown.

Page had a plan for how many minutes to give each player in this game and the France game - both of these friendlies have been all about fitness.

Ramsey picks up a knock and stays down for a minute.

But looks like it's nothing serious and he's back on the pitch.

Won't surprise me if Page takes him off soon though, only expected to play about an hour anyway.

Can someone explain to me exactly what a false nine is as opposed to a real nine and why is he called a false nine rather than a striker or attacking midfielder?
