How is it?

How is it Wales have to go to the arse end of Baku and Rome for our games but the likes of Holland, Denmark, England, Scotland, Germany and Spain all get to basically play home games?

Welsh FA officials and hangers on wanted a holiday perhaps?

Yeah because they're the ones who pick where we play in tournaments. FFS

Ridiculous idea for a tournament.
If they really wanted to do the whole multiple countries thing they should've chosen 2 cities from 6 countries and had each group be assigned a country. Have Manchester and London host group A, Paris and Lyon group B, Milan and Rome group C, etc and ignore trying to give teams home games.

Italy play 3 games in Rome compared to Wales who between matches have to fly 2000+ miles from Baku to Rome. So not only is it a 6-7 hour flight, it's also a whole day missed training and recovering.

The Millennium Stadium amazingly missed out on games and it seemed it was because of games being close by in Ireland, Scotland and England and us only recently getting the Championss League Final.

Even when grounds had games taken off them, we still missed out with them just lumping more games on the Wembley roster.

Its a bit suspicious that Turkey get to play in Baku which has a Turkish population of around 25,000, is a mere 2 hour flight from Istanbul- and closer from some parts of Turkey- and has close political ties with Azerbijan. No prizes for guessing who the locals will be supporting. Good job the stadiums wont be full, otherwise it could have been a cauldron

A 6 or 7 hr flight ?? 2000 miles doesn't take 6/7 hrs, its only 4 1/2 from here to turkey.

Looks like I overestimated tbf. This says Baku to Rome is 5 hours:

I still think it’s a really poor tournament set up though as even a 5 hour flight is still a whole day wasted by the time they get to and from each airport. Assigning one country to a group would mean the longest journey a team would have is at the very most a 2 hour flight.

Agree that it's a ridiculous and unfair idea for a tournament - gives the countries chosen to host advantages in 3 ways:
1) the costs for the "away" teams will be much higher than those playing at home - always the case but this time it's a selected group;

2) the selected home teams will have much more support;

3) it may not be a 6-7 hour flight, but getting to the airports, getting through the airport and onto the plane, the flights themselves plus getting through the airport on arrival and into new hotels will almost certainly waste the best part of a day.

So I agree that the teams having to travel by plane will lose the best part of a day for training and recovery.
