Firefighters with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a blaze near Roots Hall in Southend, Essex after a "large quantity of astroturf" caught fire at the stadium this evening (June 7).
The blaze, which started at 5:45pm, is creating a "significant amount of smoke", according to the Fire Service, and pictures of the scene show it billowing from the commercial premises.
