UPDATED:

Lost any respect for Scotland.

Dam Scotland have caved in to England

Scotland to take a knee in solidarity with England
Scotland's players will take a knee alongside their England counterparts at next Friday’s Euro 2020 game at Wembley.
But will not take the knee for the other matches.
England players and the English FA both had meetings with Scotland and agreed after discussions.

Scotland will only go on one knee for this one game.

Well done :thumbright: :thumbright:

Now come on Wales / England

Scotland captain Andy Robertson has said his team have decided they won't go down on one knee in protest against racism during the European Championships. Instead he says they will stand up - saying they feel it's "the best way for us to show solidarity and also to reinforce the need for meaningful change in society."

Great news it's the start of the whole thing falling apart. The authorities have tried labelling anyone who doesn't support it racist, now the Scottish team won't do it that won't hold. When fans return and start booing it that will be too much to stomach especially the bad publicity , controversy. Of course it won't be dropped because of backlash it will have been dropped because the FA decided to of its own accord !

One of the representatives of enfglish fans called those that booed racists? Is this what things are coming to if you dont agree with something your labelled racist sexist or whatever just for not supporting them? People have the right to show displeasure as much as the ones who are are protesting......

Not common sense in this instance, the Natz will have pressured the SFA not to do the Knee because it won’t look good if the Tartan Tranny Army boo it.

Booing players doesn’t equate to the country having little respect. Explain that if you would.

I think the past decades has seen a reduction in respect given.
Culture wars propagated by newspapers and politicians have divided this country and have caused endless arguments and petty name calling.

Brexit, corona, 'wokeness', even whether a fictional character could be black or a woman, etc etc.

In 2013 some Oxford uni students decided to put a picture of the Queen up in a common room, last week they decided to take it down. That decision made front page news because the papers knew it'd widen divides and cause friction.

Rarely do you see something like "I see what you're saying but personally I disagree so we'll just have to agree to disagree" anymore, nowadays you'd see a 'loony leftist' or 'racist' thrown in.

For me, the footballers are doing it right, even the likes of lyle taylor who are really opposed still show respect when the others take the knee. I don't think a single footballer or staff has booed taking a knee. James mcclean doesn't wear a poppy (gets death threats for that) but still stands respectfully for the silence and doesn't boo. That's respect for me.

You see ‘with respect ‘ given a lot on here. Booing isn’t disrespectful, it’s audibly disagreeing with an opinion, just the opposite of cheering. If anything, McLean is unable to climb above a level of entrenchment, but that’s for him.

Anyway, you haven’t answered the question, just cited a few day to day media snippets..

Let's say you have to give a speech, would you feel respected if people booed you throughout? Of course you wouldn't.
Surely the aim of this booing is to be disrespectful? You're trying to show that you don't like it, don't want it, and don't think it should happen. You can't say that's respectful to anyone who wants it/ is taking the knee.

I did think I answered your question but am surprised you've described the 2 biggest events in the UK in about 50 years as "day to day media snippets".
I'll retell it simply:

Booing taking the knee is showing a lack of respect and increasing a culture war that certain people and papers have been stirring to further their agenda and divide this country when in fact if we stopped and listened to both sides and respected each other we could easily compromise and move on to actually tackling important issues (which is what the people making these divides don't want).

but taking the knee in support of a political movement was also showing lack of respect. which has since been doubled down on by not having the balls to admit that they were foolish gullible and unknowingly supporting a left wing political movement , instead of the attempt to morph it into something else ... maybe they { those kneeling } should have stopped and listened when they eventually figured out the bleeding obvious .but instead the priority was not to look wrong so have now embarked on a tirade of name calling.... its divisive, deliberate and has achieved nothing... yet continues as some sort of pissing contest...

Well going based solely off what you said then if they were first unknowing and then once they found out that they were linked with a left wing (gasp) group they changed it then surely that's showing compromise and acknowledging the complaints?
