LGBT+ Supporters Group

Great to see some positive posts supporting us.
Sadly some of the posts show a special kind of ignorance and considering some of you don't want politics rammed down your throats, I find it odd that you've come on to a post promoting the free organisation of LGBT+ supporters and banged on about "lefties", BLM, etc

We have never set out for "special treatment", I find it baffling that there are objections to this. While initially the objections seemed to be only people not understanding why we are here, it very quickly descended into tired and dated tropes labelling LGBT+ people as sexual predators. If anything it reflects worse on the posters on here that you're sexualising basic bodily functions like going to the toilet. Trans women will continue to use the toilet they feel most safe in, as they are legally entitled to.

Trans women's existence is a threat to nobody. Of course you'll find exceptions but it's a tired-assed trope to label all trans women as sexual predators based on the actions of a very tiny minority. No it’s not, firstly I’m not suggesting all trans people are wrong uns and second gay men were not invading women only areas. I think you’ve got St George syndrome, all the major social justice battles have been won, gay rights, woman’s rights and equality for black people are all enshrined in British Law. You’ve killed the dragon however you’ve still got your horse, sword and Lance but there’s no dragons left to slay. If someone has surgery to have their genitals removed at least they are serious about it, just sticking a ribbon in your hair and saying I identify as a woman should not allow you to access to women only areas. You talk about safe spaces surely women and kids deserve their safe space?

Great post, sadly in an era of identity politics some want to divide us.

Haven't got time to go through every reply but my opinion for what it's worth is if Cardiff fans in that community feel like a group might help themselves or others then I don't see why anybody would have a problem with it to be honest.

It shouldn't be an issue really in todays world but if it makes it more comfortable and makes it easier then carry on with a view to integrate into the wider support.

We are looking for LGBT+ City fans to be a part of the club's first ever LGBT+ supporters network. The club are very keen to support the idea & are looking at a launch early in the new season. A number of other teams across the country have long running and successful supporters groups such as the Gay Gooners & Proud Lilywhites. Already since launching the Twitter profile we've had fans get in touch who are keen on the idea having been put off coming to matches due to homophobia and/or transphobia

Out of interest what homophobia or transphobia do you think is deterring said fans from attending CCS ? Aside from the standard stuff that comes out when Brighton come to town (which they don’t) do you think there is an issue at Cardiff . Trying to think of chants that may be offensive to fans who don’t feel CCS is a ‘safe environment’ currently.

Singing rent boy to the opposition keeper (or Chelsea fans) is probably the only one I can think of although can’t recall that one coming out for a while . I don’t see why a gay person would find that offensive tbh, surely it’s the act of taking payment for the act in question as opposed to the act itself , ditto with the offence aimed in the word prostitute, however I’m aware that some ( straight or gay ) are more easily offended than others .

The Trans addition to the collective movement seems to be a recent thing that has gained a lot of momentum, can’t say I’ve heard any specific transphobic chants in grounds . I am a huge LGBTQIA+ supporter and I hope that one day we will have that Equality that we all need especially in these crazy times. My nephew who is a proud gay is very active in our local sports and I hope one day he can join the team, he is 8. I am also keen to keep our body healthy in order to keep us active, and I think in order for us to be healthy we need to make sure we are always aware of our overall health.
