Liverpool want Jarrod Bowen

By Glen Williams

Passing up on Jarrod Bowen might just be the costliest mistake of Cardiff City's recent history.

Eight years ago, Bowen was on trial with the Bluebirds who decided not offer him a contract.

But after a six week-trial with the Welsh capital city club, it was deemed he would not make the grade and was cast adrift once again. He has since spoken about how he broke down and cried after Cardiff let him go.

He rose to prominence at Hull City, of course, before completing a move to West Ham which could rise to as much as £25m in the summer of 2019.

Now, according to The Athletic, Jurgen Klopp wants him at Liverpool.

The 24-year-old is said to be on Klopp's shortlist of attackers and could well be one of the main reasons the manager is keen to get Wilson out the door.

Is he much if any better than Wilson?

I rate Bowen don’t get me wrong.

My boy played with him at Hereford college My son being a city fan could not believe that city turned him down especially as he had played in the conference at age 17 Let’s think of anyone who is now 24 in city squad who came through academy who is as good as him Remember we are not talking about someone who was a surprise to the local football community regarding his ability

Rubbish article. How do we know if we’d kept him for the last 8 years he’d still be worth so many millions today?
Clubs miss out on players all the time, Arsenal missed out on Zlatan, Leeds missed out on Van Dijk, Chelsea sold Salah and De Bruyne for peanuts, etc. Unless we had a crystal ball or fortune teller at the club I think such mistakes can be forgiven :?

Is he though?

Stats don’t appear to support that.

Wilson 7 goals in 31 premier league games and a very good championship record.

Bowen 9 goals in 51 premier league games and an excellent championship record.

Completely agree. Sometimes a bit of pain is what a player needs for them to get their arse into gear and get playing. No guarantee that he would have become the player he has if city had kept him on the books

Football has always been full of these sorts of stories. Didn't Bill Shankly tell Kevin Keegan that he'd never make it? You can't win 'em all.

This post makes no sense.

Wasn’t a costly mistake at all.

No sell on clause for Bale. That was a costly mistake.

Who ever he is, or the next costly mistake, he won't be worth millions in years to come as we won't spot, develop, nurture this CCFC prodigal son. I love us but we ain't that kind of club.

Bale was never our player, not at any age or time. I believe he joined Southampton's academy when he was nine or ten.

Are you sure?

I read it on here I think.

It was said on here that if we managed to sell Bale for 100 million it would have been 700 million wasted by dictator Tan
