I wasn’t that old then but I think city fans ran riot up there and I remember a city fan being stabbed outside Ninian in the return fixture with the Chelsea fan quoted as saying something like ‘that’s for what you did at Chelsea’.

I was at the 1975 game allbeit only 14 years old (travelled up with Caerphilly Skins who were a right game bunch).
Memories of the day - large Cardiff following 3k - 4k mostly all in the away end. A big group of Chelsea to our right - much twoing and frowing throughout the game. Cardiff held back at end of game, packed in like Sardines getting bombarded with bricks & mortar from the locals.
Gates finally opened and Cardiff just went mental chasing Chelsea all over the place and dishing out many beatings.
It seemed to go on for ages with absolutely no sign of Chelsea getting on top.

Wasn't it on match of the day- the game that is!- in the days when only two games were featured? And i think the year was 76 and we had just been promoted from the old 3rd Division.

Yes. Clive Charles scored a pen in a 2-1 loss

I have no recollection of that game. Remember the league cup game in 1980 when we drew up there and knocked them out. More for the tube journey back to Paddington to get the special, than the game. If they'd opened the doors at Earls court we'd have been massacred.
