Team News: :bluebird:

Last night Kieffer Moore for Wales:

Kieffer Moore received treatment on the pitch after taking a knock and was later seen to in the dressing room after being replaced by Cardiff City team mate Mark Harris.

And Moore was at a loss to explain why he was cautioned during the game, particularly after being on the receiving end of a stray elbow himself.

“I put my arms by side," admitted the striker when asked about his booking.

"I remember challenging for the ball with my arms by my side, so you'll have to ask the ref I suppose.

“I am super conscious every time I go for an aerial challenge or just to get my body in, I mentally try not to do too much. It does take some getting used to.

"International referees never really give you too much leeway, it's about adapting to that and trying to find a fair ground I guess."

Swansea City boss Russell Martin is likely to address several potential fitness concerns ahead of Sunday's South Wales derby with bitter rivals Cardiff City.

Wednesday 13th October 2021

The Swans host Mick McCarthy's men looking for what will only be their third victory of the Championship season, and Martin is set to keep a close eye on several of his stars as he bids to pile more misery onto his opposite number.

Oliver Ntcham and Michael Obafemi are two of the most pressing concerns for the Swans boss, and both were notable absentees when the Swans posted footage of their pre-derby preparations at the beginning of the week.

Ntcham has been sidelined since pulling out of the trip to Fulham with a suspected hamstring problem a fortnight ago, and it remains to be seen whether he will be in contention for the visit of the Bluebirds.

The midfielder has impressed sections of the Jack Army since his summer arrival on a free transfer, and turned in some classy performances before finding himself on the bench.

Obafemi is another concern, having sat out the last three games with a muscle injury, and Martin will be desperate to have the Irishman back to strengthen his forward options, having seen his side fail to turn their dominance of possession into goals during the last few games.

However, there could well be more positive news on Ryan Bennett, who was pictured back in full training this week after serving his own spell in the treatment room.

Meanwhile, Manchester United loanee Ethan Laird was left back in SA1 after pulling out of the latest England under-21s squad with a mixture of fatigue and a knock, while Ryan Manning is another player due to be assessed ahead of the visit of the Bluebirds after he pulled out of the recent Republic of Ireland squad with an ankle injury.

Martin himself appeared confident that his side would be fully fit for this weekend's clash, despite admitting to a few knocks in the 0-0 draw with Derby County before the international break.

"I think we'll have all of the guys back," he said.

"Ryan Bennett will be back, Michael Obafemi will be back, Olivier will be back so we'll be in good shape for that hopefully."

Swansea take on Cardiff at the Swansea.com Stadium on Sunday, October 17. Kick-off is at 12pm.

Swans handed triple injury boost

Olivier Ntcham, Ryan Bennett and Michael Obafemi have all returned to training ahead of this weekend's south Wales derby contest in Swansea.

The Swans host the Bluebirds in what is the first meeting of the season between the sides on Sunday afternoon.

Swans 'home' favourites?

A bit odd (excuse the pun) but even more pressure on them

Rarely vote pre-match but gone for a Bluebird win because we are due a result and I cannot imagine our manager and players won't be up for it

A win could ignite the season again, a draw would just about be acceptable, whilst a loss would be a set back amongst recent set backs

Positivity is a must this weekend to set the tone...! :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Martin has revealed that he has a fully-fit Swansea squad available ahead of this game.

While he could potentially stick with the 11 players which started against Derby County, Ethan Laird and Morgan Whittaker are alternatives for Joel Latibeaudiere and Korey Smith respectively.

McCarthy says that Cardiff forward Kieffer Moore should be passed fit despite suffering a minor eye injury while on international duty with Wales.

A number of alterations are likely elsewhere, however, with Perry Ng, Sean Morrison and Joel Bagan all in line to return to the defence.

Rubin Colwill will also hope to feature after only being named as a substitute against Reading.
