This is Cardiff City’s possible best team for this season

Fri Jun 17, 2022 3:47 pm

By Glen Williams

This is Cardiff City possible best XI (4-2-3-1) :

Allsop; Romeo, Ng, Nelson, Collins; Wintle, Adams; Davies, Colwill, O'Dowda; Watters.

We can expect more signings, next week and perhaps even beyond. It must be stressed that Cardiff have used none of their loan allocation and are hopeful of using all five slots, like they did back in January, so one expects at least half a dozen, or more, to come through the door before the transfer window closes. That, it feels, is where next season becomes a success or a failure.

Amid the relatively unknown quantities from abroad and the lower leagues, Cardiff have also had some experienced Championship pick-ups, adding depth in areas which have sorely needed it.

On that point, let's look at the goalkeeping options. After letting Alex Smithies leave and signing two goalkeepers, Morison has three options in goal next season. Dillon Phillips plus new signings Jak Alnwick and Ryan Allsop, from St Mirren and Derby County respectively. Whether signing two new keepers has any impact on Phillips' future at the club remains to be seen, though at present it is viewed within the club as a competition for the shirt.

Phillips has had an up-and-down career thus far in the Welsh capital and it would be no surprise to see either of the other new recruits ahead of him come July 30. Morison is a big fan of Allsop and has chased him for some time. He comes with real pedigree and had no shortage of offers in the Championship. Cardiff were buoyed when they learned they won the race for his signature.

You only have to look at the Derby fans to see their reaction to his departure and you will have a greater insight into the sort of player Cardiff are getting in Allsop, who looks the most likely to be installed as the new No.1 next term.

Then there is the case for the defence. There are three new recruits and they are all full-backs, one of the areas which has needed real surgery in this squad for a number of windows now. On the right there is now Mahlon Romeo and Vontae Daley-Campbell and on the left there is the new, unknown Jamilu Collins.

That team would would probably be bottom 2, But with Sat 5 quality loan players to come and a quality striker , then we are taking totally different.

Their would be No way we could put a team in the Championship with that starting lineup.

We need a Leader, midfield strengthened and Strikers etc.

Everyday is a slow news day at Fails Online. Utter rag of news outlet but no surprise as it's part of the Reach group who specialise in tosh..

Sorry but how can this be a possible starting lineup with possibly 7 more recruits by start of season? Thought got away from predicting something before it happens? and "IF" this was starting lineup we would be in relegation trouble b 4 we start.. but this will not be our 1st 11 come August. :old:

Is Dalmans lap dog having a laugh?

Pointless and unfair until we get some quality and experience.

That side is relegation fodder, and this article is worrying. Is this being fed out to the masses as a team we are likely to field?, and are we trying to be hoodwinked again into believing there is sufficient quality there to survive?

I know you like to predict things but surely even you dont think this is our starting 11 come August do you? Unless of course we are not planning to use the loan market and we are not going to get in any more players Who is this journalist a Swansea fan??

Jules,

Of course I never turn until or praise till about 12 games have been played, but Glen Williams has put this team out, which won’t be No where near the starting line up , so I just commented on the team he has named and I am giving my honest view.

I will 100% get behind them No matter what, but it does remind me of the Clemo and Durban days and I turned up at every game and fully supported my team

Exactly Jonny,

But Dalmans lap dog just can’t help doing it, utter nonsense really as it’s No where near what the team will look like.

Hence I have said it is pointless and unfair.

I would question 'why write such a ridiculous article'? Is there any pressure on him to do so?

Pressure from who or is it just a mischievous journalist with agenda? We all know there is still lots to do regarding players coming in so why publish such crap? Are u suggesting the club (Dalman) put pressure on him if so for what reason?

As weak as this appears.
I'm more shocked that Tanner is not in there.
Surely with his talent he has to be a starter.

And what happened to McGuinness ?????

Exactly Ninian mcguiness and tanner as well as colwill will probably be mainstays next year. Someone just making a story out of nothing without any real thought.

Glen Williams is a junior reporter and learning his trade in a poor news organisation (owned by Reach). He's written this precisely to get tongues wagging and create clickbait. Their reporters are told they have to create a minimum amount of clickbait stories per week or get fired, that's why the quality of news from Wales Online is so poor. He seems like a good kid but needs to move to an outlet of quality for sports journalism as he's not going to get the chance to do it where he is. In fact, all of their reporters need to do the same. Reach do UK wide regional news and in every region, they are slagged off for their tosh output. The shame is that they are Wales main news agency and we deserve a lot better.

Let’s hope not. That team would finish rock bottom.

As posted above ... Still time to improve on this squad - Not a " rock bottom team " ...

(3-5-1-1) :

Allsop;
Ng, Nelson, McGuiness
Romeo - Wintle - Ramsey - Adams - Collins
Collwill
Bale.

That'd do for me to be fair.

;) :ayatollah:
