On Monday, 7th October 2024, Cardiff City Football Club will be celebrating the 125th anniversary of our first ever fixture.
The Club was founded in the summer of 1899 by Bartley Wilson as Riverside AFC, and played against Barry West End in our first recorded fixture on 7th October 1899 at Sophia Gardens.
To mark the anniversary of this key moment in our proud history, the walls of Cardiff Castle will be turned blue on the evening of October 7th as we continue our season-long celebration of the 125th anniversary of Cardiff City FC.
If you’re in the Welsh capital on the evening of October 7th, come along to Cardiff Castle and join our anniversary celebration!

On 7 Oct 1899 Riverside AFC (now our very own Cardiff City Football Club ) played their first fixture against Barry West End. So next Monday we're lighting Cardiff Castle blue to celebrate 125 years of the Bluebirds!
