Do we treat away fans too well?

Fri Nov 15, 2024 8:09 pm

Wayne Nash is obviously in charge of what the supporters do and and where they are in the stadium.

There have long been calls for him to move the current Canton stand to where the family stand is - I agree with that but he's ignored all these demands.

Yet we treat away fans as if they are royalty - even making sure than the Ninian Stand next to them don't even stand up.

Booked my ticket for Coventry yesterday and will also be at Stoke next month so this is fresh in my mind.

Every away game we go to, the home team make it uncomfortable for us.

That's either by putting a vocal home end close by or having stewards who are awkward.

That's the way away fans should be treated.

But as long as Nash is involved with the club, we'll just treat away fans in a better way than home fans are.

I don't find stewards awkward at away games.

They can be. You've obviously never been to Bolton.

The home team will always try and make things difficult. If they don't have a vocal home end next to the away fans, they find other ways - that's my point.

But we and Wayne Nash make the decision to treat away fans like the King.

Since grounds been open its always had reputation of being a good ground to go to for families and away fans won numerous awards that us better Ghana having bad reputation or doing what some clubs do like leeds ncastle put fans as far away from pitch they can .... and actually away fans are next to city fans in ninian stand but for security reasons they leave a 30yrd exclusion zone! Or are we suggesting that stewards leave one row between fans? Been to many grounds premier league and efl and none have the space that ccs affords any fans tbh
None are a patch on ccs for fans comfort within ground...
Should be happy got such a ground. Atmosphere is what fans make at ground any complaints at Wales games ?? So its a phalisy to say no Atmosphere at ccs we simply don't have a reason most times to show it.

We have for many years laid out the red carpet for away fans to make sure they have an enjoyable visit to our stadium whereas having visited about 60 away grounds over the years I can confirm that we are universally treated like shit by the vast majority of clubs we visit.

For away fans we have done the following in the recent past:-

Cheap tickets
Given them extra tickets above their entitlement when they've asked for them.
Had a choir on the pitch at half time serenading them with one of their songs (Newcastle)
Given them free food and drink (Leicester)
Fitted safe standing in the away end whilst forcing home fans to sit under threat of expulsion.
Held back home fans after games whilst allowing away fans out first.
Made sure away coaches are given priority leaving over home fans.

Have I missed any?

Not only that but if I remember correctly the first time we were in the Premier League all clubs were given £200,000 to use for the benefit of their away supporters. Most clubs used it to subsidise travel or away tickets for their own supporters but our club chose to spend the money on improving the facilities for away fans visiting our ground rather than benefit the clubs own away supporters.

Wayne Nash is too concerned with Family Club of the year.

Away fans can stand, we get told not to.

Away fans can shout chants, we get told it’s racist.

Wayne Nash is a complete idiot and should be on the same list as the regime.

Think you're spot on, if I remember right.

The last bit SHOULD be a stain on the way the club is run. I emphasise the "should" because I know it won't.

I know Tan won't care because he's not at the games, but if he imagined he was where I stand then he'd change his mind.

Spot on.

I'm in Canton but really pissed me off how the Ninian are treated.

It takes the piss, talk about anti-atmosphere.

There’s no reason to think the stewards at CCS in the away end are any less awkward than in the rest of the ground .

Really?

I have many friends who come to the CCS as a away fans and they say they are treated unbelievably well compared to
Other away grounds they’ve been to.

And Never ever told to sit down.

Do you work for the Hierarchy as I’ve looked through your posts??

Hmmmmmmmm

Always makes me laugh when the guy on the tannoy just before kick tells everybody to get on there feet and make some noise and the stewards tell you to sit down
I am inbetween the canton and ninian and very often hear the away singing to the canton we forgot you where here etc funny i can hear them from where i am but fans are to far apart but i suppose it suits the ayatolla.
